Hello im 18 years old. I have been producing breast milk for one month in both breasts. And i took a pregnancy test a month ago and it came back negative. For the past two months my period has been on and off every other week, so every other week my period is on again. The blood discharge is in big clumps, really heavy. And having weird stomach pains, like craps! Do you think i am pregnant??? Or something is wrong with me?
I saw a doctor a month ago about it and she says it may be my old birth control. But i stop taking my birth control in december, and now its may. Should took blood, but never called me back with any details. Should my period be that irregular and its been four months??? What you think i should do?

What can I do next?

Dear J., I think you should see another doctor. I do not like the sound of bleeding in big clumps. If you tell the doctor everything he may be able to help you. Grandma Mary

Doesn't sound like breast milk sounds like nipple discharge. I never took the pill but I would say get a second opinion especially if she is not calling you back telling you anything. I have only been pregnant 3 times one was a miscarriage and this doesn't sound pregnant and this doesn't sound like a miscarriage either. something is not right. but I was told when I had my miscarriage girls can bleed while pregnant without miscarrying but most generally it leads to miscarriage. but bleeding with a miscarriage is gushing after a week of spotting.

Get a second opinion from another doctor and make sure they do bloodwork beyond just a pregnancy test. It sounds like something is out of whack with your hormones. Maybe a miscarriage or maybe something else (I'm not a doctor so I would just be guessing). One of my friends had a month long period ( she had never been pregnant or on any hormonal birth control) and was put on the pill for a while to regulate it. But again you would need to see a doctor to do that.

If you were pregnant you wouldn't be producing milk just yet. Breast milk comes in after a baby is born... some woman do lactate a few months before the baby is born, but that is more common in woman who have already had children. The point I'm making is, it sounds like you miscarried :( and your body is acting like you just had a baby which is probably why you've been producing breast milk. I miscarried a couple years ago and same thing happened to me. Stomach pains, cramps and blood clots are common signs of a miscarriage. First call your doctor back and ask about your results. If you get a run around and are told to come back in for another test... DON'T! Go see a different doctor and explain everything that you just did in your post. Ask to have a blood test done to see what your hcg levels are. I know you were probably hoping to get a response saying that you're pregnant, but as delicately as I can put it sweetie, it sounds like you were and no longer are.

Check out http://www.babycenter.com and read about miscarriages and signs and symptoms of one. It helped me get a better understanding of what was going on with my body and what helps emotionally. A lot of other useful information on that site too.

Call your doctor right now so you know what route you need to take. If you have to be pushy with a doctor to get what you need... it's time to get a new doctor. Take care of yourself and do it as soon as possible. Much love and hugs!!!

Hi
Sorry for the trouble you are having.
I am on board with calling the doctor and at least finding out what MD or OB says now that it is almost May.
God bless you

I would probably want to call the dr's office and just schedule another appt - at that time you can discuss the results from the bloodwork & see where you go from here. Good luck!

I think your hormones are out of whack from whatever BC you were using. I was on depo provera (the shot) and while most people get reduced or no periods with it, I got mine continuously. Just stopping the shots did not help. Months later I went on the pill and got my system regulated again, went off a few months later and have been fine ever since (about 5 years now). I would assume any type of hormonal BC, especially ones that alter the normal menstrual cycle (seasonal, nuva ring, depo, etc.), can mess your cycle up. I would try the pill for a few months (even if that was the BC you were on - try a different formula, and make sure it's a monthly one, not one that skips periods), and see if you can get everything back to normal.

Also, make sure your dr knows that you are having nipple discharge.

I would call and set up a new appointment, say you want to discuss the test results from the last one, and that you are still having all the same problems and you want to do something to try to get your cycle under control.

Good luck

Find another doctor. This does not sound normal and you must be feeling awful. Results from blood tests do not take long to come in and you have the right to call back and ask the doctor if he or she does not call you. I hope you find an answer and feel better soon!

The best thing to do is to go have a full checkup. Follow up with your doctor on the blood work and, if she isn' responsive, find another doctor who will take the time to talk to you and help you figure out what is going on.

Find a new GYN and go in for a check! Your doctor should have called you back a month ago and if your still having trouble go back (to another doctor)
