I have two boys, 3 year old and 18 month old. I am a stay-at-home mom, but work a few nights a week just to get out (and make a little extra $). Anyway, I really think my oldest would do great in part-time preschool, but we really can't take on anymore monthly bills. I would like to get him out and interacting with other kids and adults. I tried a playgroup about a year ago, but there weren't other kids his age. I really think he needs to be a part of something without me around, b/c he will cling a little if he can. Does anyone have any ideals????

What can I do next?

You could check out a Springfield MOPS group, or look around for co-ops. With those, it's usually you work for x amount of time, and your child can go the whole time.

Try University Child Care Center www.missouristate.edu/uccc

They charge by the hour (2 day, 4 hours a day minimum) and also offer a discount for a parent volunteering (it doesn't have to be in the classroom).

All 3 of my kids have attended preschool here and my 4th will once he turns 2.

I'm not sure how it works, but you might try the preschool co-op at Wesley United Methodist. I believe if you work in a classroom a little, it makes your tuition cheaper...???
