Hi - I live in Hinsdale and am looking for a preschool for my daughter in the fall. She just misses the cut-off for a 3-year old class because she turns 3 in late Sept. I'll be working part-time, so I need someplace where she can attend 4 or 5 mornings a week. I am currently considering Village Children's Academy in Hinsdale and Seton Montessori in Clarendon Hills. Please let me know if you like or dislike either of those schools, or if you know of another good school in the area with a 2-year old program at least 4 days a week that I should consider.

What can I do next?

I am not sure about the ones you mentioned. But I know my BIL (who is 13 now) went to Advent Christian Daycare and my MIL loved it and so did he. They are at Plainfiled and Willow springs road. My little guy is in Acorn Day care which is in OakForest, because they take infants and he started in the infant room. I think most daycares offer some type of preschool. My BIL gets strait A's in school so I think that something was done right. Good luck and follow your gutt it is usually right when picking a place.

You will love Pathways Montesorri in Downers Grove on Maple Ave.
The school is 3 yrs new and clean, and most importantly filled with great teachers. I have had my son there and wouldn't put my children anywhere else. I would at least go and see it if I were you. It is fairly close to Seton. I looked there also but hands down, Pathways was the one.
Good luck I remember going through the same feelings you must be at this time.

Hi B.,

I live in Hinsdale and my kids go to Hinsdale Community Preschool. They have a two day program for 2.5 but it is only 2 days per/week. Mon & Friday. There is a montessori school also in the community center you could try which I have heard good things about. (a few mom's whose kids didn't make the cut off for HCP are in this program). Also you could check Union church as they have a good program that I have heard great things about. Now is the time to look as most places start registration soon for the fall.

Good luck,
H.

My kids go to the Village Childrens Academy in Westmont. I LOVE it there, so do my kids. I did visit the one in Hinsdale when I was originally looking, but Westmont was closer for me. I am so happy with it and would recommend the Westmont place to anyone. Their prices are much more reasonable than anywhere else I looked, and the staff is wonderful.

My daughter went to Seton and absolutely loved it! The staff is extremely professional, have tons of experience and are very caring toward the children. They like to involve the families in as much as possible too if you have the time.
I would recommend visiting a few schools first however before you make any decisions to see what will be the best fit for your daughter. Take her with too if possible!
Good luck.

Once your daughter turns 3 and is potty trained, I would recommend Grand Avenue Preschool. There are 2 campuses - Western Springs, and La Grange Highlands. The preschool is 8:35-11:15, and you can pick and chose your days. They are very flexible to work with your schedule. You can also do daycare there. My daughter attends preschool only on Mondays, and then full day preschool/daycare on Thursdays. It is an odd schedule, but they worked with my needs.

My 2 year old goes to Seton Montessori. She is in their half-day toddler class and so far we really like it. She goes 3 days a week. I know it is a bit expensive but she really seems to be blossoming there. We also have a 9 month old and we won't hesitate to start her in their young toddler program when she is old enough. The only downside is that she is only there from 8:45-11:15 and the time goes by really fast. I am not sure how that would be with your work schedule. We haven't tried the full day program, but have heard good things about it. Hope that helps!
