My family is relocating to Hinsdale in the next 3 weeks from Minnesota. We are looking for reasonably priced childcare for our 2 girls - ages 1 and 5. I am intersted in Nanny's, In home daycare, or centers. Can you advise on the best way to find this information? Also, I am thinking about putting my 5 year old in a preschool program, is there any good recommended schools that are again reasonably priced? I'd love any assistance in our move. I still have to find a pediatrition & dentist. Thanks for your help! A.

What can I do next?

Hello, first of all welcome to the area; Hinsdale is beautiful!!!! Just an FYI, I provide childcare services in my home for young children. I have a BS in Early Childhood EDU and a Montessori certificate. I watch children part time out of my home though can do full time too. Also, I know of a fantastic ped though located in Naperville right next to Edward Hospital. Feel free to contact me should you be interested in any of the above.

Welcome to Chicago, from a fellow Minnesotan! We live in Westmont, which is the suburb directly to the west of Hinsdale. Before I became a SAHM, my son attended Peter Pan in Westmont, on Cass Ave and 67th St. He did really well there, and all of their teachers are highly qualified. The center is bright, airy, and they have a fantastic outdoor play area. They have one area which is open-air which has their jungle gym, as well as planting beds for their little seedling projects. They also have another area that is outdoors, but covered, so even during inclement weather the kids are able to get fresh air and use their energy. The director's name is Natasa. I believe tuition for 5 full days for a 1 year old is $250/week, but not sure what the 5 year old's would be. Welcome to Chicago childcare prices!! There definitely are cheaper alternatives if you choose in-home childcare.

This fall my 3 year old will be attending Holy Trinity's Preschool, which is also on Cass in Westmont, but a few blocks north of 55th St (so a bit closer to Hinsdale).

As for physicians...my hubby is an adult medicine doctor, and we bring our children to Dr. Greg Ozark at the Loyola University Medical Center's clinic in Darien. It is on 75th St & Lemont Rd, in a strip mall next to JoAnn Fabrics. Dr. Ozark is fantastic, as are the other docs that we have seen there. If Dr. Ozark is not available, our next choice is always Dr. Brent Rieger.

Wish I had a suggestion for pedontist, but we're still looking for one for ourselves as well :) Hope your move goes smoothly!!

Check out the DuPage Childcare resources through the YWCA. They have listings of licensed day care homes& preschools, and were extremely helpful when I was looking for daycare. Good luck!

I live in Willow Springs, which is 10 minutes from Hinsdale. There is a KinderCare and Rogy's daycare center in Burr Ridge. Also, I believe there is a place called the Village, located in downtown Hinsdale that does daycare. My 4.5 year old daughter attends Grand Avenue Preschool in La Grange Highlands, and we are very pleased. We go to La Grange Pediatrics, located on Willow Springs Rd in La Grange. Sorry - my dentists are located a 1/2 hour away, so can't help you there.

Hi! Welcome to the area. My kids went to Creme de la Creme, basically the corner of Route 83 and Ogden, technically Westmont-several families from Hinsdale/Oakbrook/Clarendon Hills area send there kids there.
The program goes thru Kindergarten and they do a fabulous job. All day kidergarten is first grade curriculum. They have dedicated music, art, spanish, gym. A tennis court (small one) playground trikes and a water park for summer. I would not classify as reasonable, but definitely a great experience for children. My kids were reading chapter books in kdergarten- so were most. Good luck!

We live in Downers Grove. I don't think that is far from Hinsdale either. My kids go to Downers Grove Pediatrics. We normally see Dr. Sheehan she is great. We are still looking for a dentist that is in network. There is a Downers Grove dental office in the same building as the Pediatrician...I actually think one of the dentists is the son of one of the pediatricians in the group Dr. Cabana.

I don't have advice on daycares...I am a SAHM. I do watch a couple kids in my home. You can contact me about that if you are interested.

Hope this helps! :)

I would recommend sittercity.com which will give you a list of available nannies in the area. I had very good luck on the site. I would also recommend Elmhurst Dental in Elmhurst. There are many pediatricians in the area.
