I have a masters degree in early childhood, and my idea is that you should either, 1. save your money, or 2. look for a developmental program. A three year old whose mom wants them to have "fun" does not need an academic program at this point. Although, in Utah, it is all the rage, due to parent demand, and greed on the part of preschool owners, to put young children in rigorous academic settings. Look for a well rounded curriculum with hands on activities, field trips, creative offerings, and teachers with at least a two year degree/ associates in early childhood. If you decide against preschool, do it at home with a free playgroup, taking turns with other moms like "joyschool". There are so many things you can do like making bubble soap at home and using different wands (things from a dollar store or your kitchen), making your own fingerpaint and playdoh and drawing letters or numbers, counting cereal, going to the library for books, the park, the grocery store to look at produce and compare shapes/colors, etc. I have done both myself when my children were small, and what I did at home, before I even had a degree, far surpassed what my children were offered at any prek or k (even private ones). There are tons of resources on line too, if you just can't stand not having dittos. Just type in your topic on Google, and the world is your oyster. Have fun, and remember that you are your child's best first teacher.
