My son attends an exellent after school program. School ends this week and I'd like to do a little something to show my appreciation. He works with several of the staff members and they are all equally good. Is a group gift appropirate -- fruit basket (ie Edible Arrangements) or choc or flowers?
Get each of them a gift card to Tim Horton's, or Starbucks. Something like that. A group gift is nice but right now teachers are too busy to get together and once the year is over they won't see each other often enough to enjoy it together.
My son attended an afterschool program this past year & what I decided to get them was a gift card for each of them to Dunkin Donuts. They all enjoyed it because they're all college students who volunteer their time & all of them go to Dunkin Donuts from time to time. So that is something to consider. You could write a note that says have a snack on us or a coffee on us or something to that affect. This way they each can get what they want & you look great too.
I would go with Edible fruit basket, ( Choclate coverd LOL)
So they can all enjoy it, Its less money than an individual gift, and its not playing favorites.
PLus they'd appreciate it.

those edible arrangements are expensive.. nice.. but very expensive. I usually buy a small gift card.. like $5 or $10 each for starbucks, dunkin donuts or movies. It's just something small to say thanks.. happy summer!!
As I viewed your post, 3 banners came up for The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation so I just wanted to add that you could always make a donation to a worthy children's cause in honor of the school/teachers. Just send a thank-you note to each teacher stating a donation has been made in appreciation for how fortunate your child has been and that now the teacher's work was reaching even further than his/her classroom. (I don't think you even need to specify the $ amount.)
At my daughter's school, we collected money as a group, divided the money among the teachers evenly and gave them Visa gift cards. That way they could buy what they liked.
My suggestion is keep it simple and if it can be personalable that would be even better. Teachers get so many gifts which unfotunately they just throw away or pass along.
My favorite gift for teachers is a recipe card holder for their kitchen. I write up recipes of our families favorites. One appetizer, one special soup/salad recipe, main dish recipe and a dessert. I wrap up the holder with the recipes displayed in clear plastic wrap. Even if they don't use the holder they will keep your recipes and many of the teachers have made and loved a few of our favorites. It's a big hit every time and is not expensive.
Also something homemade by your child could be nice. Go to a craft store and by some canvas bags or an apron ... your child can add their hand prints with a clever saying (look online for ideas).
Another thought ... think about the teacher. My son had a teacher who loved to read in her spare time. I found out some of her favorite authors, purchased a book, and had my son write a special message in the cover. She LOVED it!
Lastly, a gift card to Dunkin donuts or Starbucks so they can buy a coffee and maybe another treat. It can be for as little as $5...it's the idea and not how much you spend. Again be clever when you give the gift card and use a rhyme to tell them how special they are and enjoy a cup on you. Simple stuff -- there are ryhming sites to help you too!
