Anyone out there that who had a hysterctomy but still have abnormal pap smears? I am going on a year and a half post-op and was just notified that I have another bad pap smear again. I was hoping that having a hysterectomy would fix this.

What can I do next?

You didn't mention what your doctor says about it. Are they doing biopsies? If you're not satisfied with what you doctor is saying and doing about this, it's simple - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Have you heard of the website Hystersisters.com? You may find some help there. Good luck!

Have they done a colpolcospy (sp) ?? The pap is scraping cells from the cervex and vagina . . . I would think they would want to do a biopsy to see what is going on??? If not, I think I would seek a second opinion.

I agree with JJ. Dont want to worry you in any way. After my hysterectomy I thought all was taken care of, but cells are left behind and you must continue pap smears. Also, I hesitate when it comes to the website hystersisters. As much as I like the title....when I visited it (many years ago soit may have changed) it was basicly a bashing session for unsatisfied women that had hysterectomies. Again, this could have changed, but I would avoid negativity and move forward.
