I just gave birth to my second son eight months ago and I just got my first real period since feb 02'.I was wondering what birth control should I use. That would not change my menstual cycle because I haven't had a regular period since I got preganant with my first son 5 years ago. I would like to keep a regular menstual cycle. having a regular menstual cycle is important to my husban and I because we would like to have another child in the future. I have tried (the pill, the patch and the shot)in the pass and they all had bad turn outs for me. I also don't agree with the ring or any thing I would have to stick in side myself. any suggestions

What can I do next?

Hey D.! I had issues with my blood pressure when I was pregnant with my son, so after he was born my doctor suggested an IUD (inter uterine device). I was pretty insistant I didn't want one until I looked into it. It's place just inside your uterus and there's a very fine string that is left out. Your menstrual cycle wont change much, if at all. My cycle has change very little. The only difference is my cramping has gotten a little bit worse and I tend to have a heavier flow some months. There are different types of IUDs. Some last only 5 years and others last 10, but you can have it removed whenever you want to begin trying for another child. I like it. I have no worries and I can control when I want to get pregnant. I hope you find what works for you! Good luck!!

Smiles,
E.

I'd say that you should talk to your OB/GYN and get their advice. I would imagine that they'd have the best information and could offer a variety of suggestions.

Hello,

I have high blood pressure and can not use any of the pills, shots, or patches and had to go with something that would not effect my blood pressure and the Dr suggested going with and IUD. It is something that the dr puts in and it can stay there for up to 5yrs. I would ask your Dr about this and see if it is something you would concerder using.
Good Luck, D.

You've pretty much ellimanated all forms of birth control besides the condom. I'm assuming you don't want to use that though. You might want to seriously look into the IUD. It's safe, it comes in a hormone and non hormone type so if you have problems with hormones then it's still an option. It also lasts for a long time.
