Questions About Being Hypnotized....

I have always wanted to try this but was weary of it. I received in the mail a few days ago one of those little advertising books, w/say like 10 pages in it. One page had an ad for getting hypnotized for weight loss and stop smoking. I need the weight loss. HAS ANYONE ELSE TRIED THIS? DID IT WORK FOR YOU? HOW LONG DID IT LAST? My sister had it done for smoking(she had smoked 2 packs a day, was smoke free for 2 weeks, then started again, but this time only like 1/2 pack a day).

Please let me know. Also, my daughter threw away my ad for it, so if anyone has theirs please let me know when the one in Bedford is going to be and where. Thanks!

(I really want to lose 10 pounds and feel this may work)

Hi J.,

My mom did this and along with hypnosis, the program included her wearing a patch. For her it was not very successful. She did say she didn't want to eat as much as usual, but she did not have significant weight loss. But, I've read that it's the number one method of successful weight loss. Since you want to lose only 10 pounds, I think if you gave it a shot it just might work for you. Good luck! If it works, let us know!

Here is where I went for private hypnosis. John Dawson is great, he is very knowledgable and has cds that you can buy to take home to listen to. He has many other topics that he uses hypnosis for. Tell them M. sent you.

J.,

Hi. I would not recommend hypnosis. I don't like it because it bypasses your soul (mind, will and emotions) and can affect your spirit. It can open the door for spiritual attacks. There are so many good methods out there--weight watchers, affirmations, working out at the YMCA, etc. There's no need to do anything risky.

Hope this helps!

From what I have been told it rarely works long term. Not sure if that is true in all cases. If it's not very expensive and you just think it would be fun to do then maybe you should try it.

I personally believe weight loss is a self image changing issue more than anything else. You have change yourself, how you eat and exercise - it's a life change, not a diet or quick fix for most people or you will just gain it right back. There are other methods that may work for you. One thing I would suggest is to run a Directive Affirmation - there is a book that explains it and has an example for weight loss called "With Winning in Mind" by Lanny Bassham. The book is written for competitors but people have used the techniques for other things like helping fight depression and weight loss. Search Google for Lanny Bassham and you will find it.
