My daughter is 10 months old and won't eat her infant cereal any more for breakfast. For a few weeks she was eating cherrios and bananas. I've tried getting her to eat pancakes, waffles and all she wants to do it play with them. I need some more ideas for breakfast foods. Any suggestions?

My son is 4 and still eats what he started eating at that age, which was scrambled eggs (now with ketchup :-), toast with jelly, and the fruit and cereal bars. Get the soft kind, not the granola kind.

For the longest time my son enjoyed eating Gerber's oatmeal that is already mixed in the jars...they have cinnamon and applesauce already mixed in. There is also the mixed ceral that they make in the jars. Maybe try the oatmeal in the box adding bits of fruit in it or applesauce. Have you tried yogurt?? That seems to be a HUGE hit with my son at any meal. OH, this is a new one my son likes, blueberry waffles just toasted nothing on them.

My children and the children I keep in the daycare love fruit & cereal bars. They are about $1.50 for a box of 8. It is something that mashes up and if your baby is chewing foods at all shouldn't have a problem eating them.

Well depending on what you are looking for, if you want to do finger foods try cut up fruit. That's what I used and even now my daughter's favorite foods are fruits. Most fruits are easy to chew even without teeth, just make sure the pieces are not too big to choke on. Also we did slices of bread with things smeared on them, jelly, butter and cinnimonsugar, yogurt, oatmeal, smashed bananas, etc.etc. and we tore the bread into small pieces.

Also, one mom mentioned thinking outside of breakfast foods, perhaps mac and cheese, or mashed potatoes. My daughter loves mashed potatoes and we could put different things in it, like cheese, or butter, or even gravy.

Hi, you might try real oatmeal, malt-o-meal, toast, muffins, eggs (some doc's say no yolks), or mix the infant cereal with applesauce or other baby jar fruit instead of formula or water. You may need to add water or formula to thin it out. Just a few ideas. Good Luck!

Also try to remember that kids are kids and they have their preferences...try introducing foods that aren't typical breakfast foods. My son spent the longest time eating grilled cheeses for breakfast...it was a far cry better than the donuts he'd rather have had.

You could purchase some low sugar syrup, quickly process the pancake just enough so it cuts into finer pieces, then remove and add syrup to it. This way, you can try 2 things. One of course if feeding her yourself, and she is getting something different to eat, and the other is giving her a spoon with a little bowl (with plenty of covering for your floor) and let her try to feed herself.
