Looking for great recommendations on daycare. My mother-in-law has been caring for my baby but will be moving in September. Have heard great things about Northstar in Lantana but there is a waiting list until January. Not looking for in home care, daycare only.

Thanks!!

I don't consider it a daycare (more like a real school), but we moved our son to Rockbrook Montessori at the start of this year. Unfortunately, he was attacked at Christmas by a child at his "daycare" class and his face, ears and neck we're severly scratched...the state filed it as a neglect. Anyway, he was terrified to go back (and we were too), but you can imagine how difficult it was to find a new school during the holidays. Luckily for us, Rockbrook had an opening and he started right away.

The best part is we pay the same amount as we paid at the daycare, but he's actually learning now instead of just being babysat. He just turned 2 in April and he can do all his colors, shapes, letters, numbers to 25, etc. He's starting to do some basic addition, along with learning time and signs ($, %, *, &, etc), and he's begun to read too!! He's our only child and being his mom I know I am biased, but I've had many people tell me (including his pediatrician) that he's advanced for his age. I truly beleive we owe a lot of that to Rockbrook and it's very dedicated and caring staff!!

I'm not sure if they have any openings, but you can call them at ###-###-#### or read more about them at www.rockbrookmontessori.com. Good luck!

I cant recommend a daycare, but I will tell you after working at Primrose in Hickory Creek I can tell you that I would not recommend going there. I quit after I witnessed somethings that really disturbed me (in the young 2 year old room), and I just knew I was not comfortable with my daughter (3 at the time) being in there. I know that there are many people that are happy with that center, but after what I witnessed, I would strongly encourage finding something else. Good luck in your search!! ~A.~

Hi D.. We have taken our son to Children's Lighthouse just behind the Rave motion picture theatre in Hickory Creek/Corinth since he was 3 months. He is only there part-time but they are very good to him and he really likes it. The director and teachers have all been great and he smiles and reaches for them which is a great indicator as well. I am very happy with this school and would recommend it. They also have video monitoring so I can check on my son whenever I want. I've dropped in at various times during the day and always been pleased with what was going on. I've only had a couple of complaints and those have been responded to very quickly and satisfactorily. I would not leave my son anywhere that did not have monitoring to watch him and other people there for checks and balances. That is why although I know there are some great in-home care centers and nannies, we would not consider that for our son. Our son is our world and we're glad we have found somewhere he is cared for well, taught and loved.
