Hi Moms! I know this request is probably been on this site many of times, but this is the first place I thought to turn when making this important decision!

I am looking for recommendations, suggestions, pros AND cons of preschool programs in the Oswego, Napeville, Aurora area. My oldest son just turned 3 in October and will be one of the older kids in the class, so ideally I am looking for a program with good structure and a nice balance of education vs. play...but most importantly, I want attentive teachers and an enjoyable (clean) environment for my little guy.

Your information is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance for your advice!!

Hi,
We LOVE Playmate preschool in Oswego.
It is for 4 yr olds only. 4 days a week. The teachers are awesome. It is a thing you have to see in order to get the full benefits of it.
It is in a house made into a preschool, been there over 30 years. If you want more info email me. they usually have a long waiting list.

My 5 year old went to Oswegoland Park District As We Grow Program. He is now in Kindergarten. My 3 year old in now in this program. Both my kids love and loved it. We have been really happy with the program and the teachers. As far as the Oswego area, St. Lukes is the most cost effective. Oswegoland Park District is tad higher but not much. I also have a friend who is really happy with Prairie Pals (a little higher cost than Park District) and one that swears by St. Lukes. I would check out the schools and see which one you feel would be a good fit for your kids, not every school is for everyone or every child. A lot of parents I talk to have totally different priority for what makes a good preschool. I would make a list of questions that you feel would make the best Preschool for your kids and visit and talk to the parents there. Visit top schools from your list during the end of school and ask some parents and observe the teachers and the kids and decide from there.

B., It doesn't say in your note but are you looking for a 2-3 hour twice a week type thing or a full day a couple days a week thing. For the first I would suggest New England Congregational church and or westley methodist preschools. they are both in aurora and are both highly recommended. I teachers from both and a lot of the kids who go into holy angels grade school went there first so thats how I know about them. for the second my grand children go to goddard school . it is off of randall road in north aurora. this is a spectacular place I would recommend it to any parent. I know they have other locations i htink there is a new one in oswego/montgomery area.

B., May I suggest St.Lukes Preschool in Montgomery. It is on the border of Montgomery and Oswego. It is on Fernwood. My children went there and we are church members there. By the time my children went to Kindergarden they where able to count to 100, new all their ABC's and knew all their colors etc. All the preschool teachers are just wonderful there. It is just a wonderful preschool for children and the class size are usually small. But better call soon they usually fill up quick for the following school year because they are so popular. Good Luck....K.

Hi, B.,

Both of my children have attended Aurora Christian Preschool on Illinois Street in Aurora and we have been very pleased. They have 3 day and 5 day programs (either 1/2 days or full days) and have an academic curriculum including gym, music, and art. Their website is www.aurorachristian.org.

Hi B.,

I cannot say enough nice things about New England Preschool on Galena in Aurora. My three year old son attends preschool there and LOVES it. He is in the three day program and is actually upset when he cannot go on tues and thursdays. The director of the school Jacquie May is fantastic and treats every student and parent at the school with respect and like a member of the family. The teachers are awesome. Very dedicated to each student and making school and learning the best it can be for each kid. The class time is on a schedule which is great for my little man, lots of time to play, learn while playing and learning time. ###-###-#### is the number. Good Luck

I invite you to check out Good Shepherd Lutheran preschool on 75th street in Naperville. Registration begins next week for the following fall. The staff are very caring and nurturing ladies. The curriculum is based on the IL standards for Early Childhood Learning and offers a mix of play within the curriculum. Enrichment programs also include Spanish and Musik Garten which is all part of the tuition. The school has a two day a week program or a three day a week program for 3's turning 4. Call to schedule a visit - ###-###-####~
