Recurring Dreams - Have You Experienced This?

Hi mamas,

I try not to put too much stock in dreams bc I always have a ton of crazy stuff floating around in my brain, but today I woke up in a panic after having my most frequently recurring dream. It's kinda gross.

I drempt that I woke up and my teeth were all very loose. One by one, I can feel them coming out - complete with the exact sensation I remember as a kid: them being hollow and just detaching from the gums. EEEWWWW!! In my dream, I always run to the mirror in a panic as I realize I cannot hide what has just happened. At about this time, I wake up.

I've consulted a few dream interpretation sites. There's even one called teethfallingoutdream.org - ya think this might be a common one? Ha! Interpretations range from vanity, to navigating transitional periods in life, to dealing with unresolved grief, to the fear of losing control. I think all of these have been true in my life to some extent and at different times, for sure.

Have you had any recurring dreams? If you've checked out the interpretations, do you believe them to be true about you?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I've had the snake dream, too - I forgot about that! The meaning you cited makes sense though given some of my working relationships...

I have dreams about tornadoes like at least once every week or so since about 6 months. And I had a few last year, but this year has been crazy.. I never die, but they are scary, I've had the loose teeth one b4 also... I have no clue what it means.

I dream about my teeth falling out ALL the time! It's a sign that you are "chewing" things over in your mind. I get them when I am stressed and/or possibly dealing with something new. I also dream about hidden and amazing places in houses (new or old) and those are my favorites! I'm always disappointed when I wake up and realize that there is indeed no hidden stairway to an underground kitchen and pool in my house. :)

I sometimes have re accruing dreams...but more often, re-accuring people in my dreams or themes. I try to remember as much of the dream as I can, check dream interpretations, and take note of my life the days before or after the dream. I do think that our sub-conscious does try to "tell us something" in our dreams and try to figure out what that thing is. If a dream or character in a dream is reaccuring, then I think it is definelty something to take note of and take a look at your life and see how it all fits together.

Not really... not since I was a kid anyway. You know, the typical ones:
You've fallen or gotten knocked down (mine was that I was in a go-kart that ran out of gas, and I tried to get out and run and tripped)... and there is a huge snake that is coming towards you and your legs don't work.

Then there was always the drowning one. I never had a falling one, but I have many times over the years had variations on dreams where I discover I can fly. Literally, it is scary how high up I am and then I notice if I move my arms this way or that I can control how fast or high/low I fly and just when it becomes fantastic, I wake up. :(

When I was about 5, I had a recurring dream of dark figures chasing me around a lake. I woke up screaming on one occasion, and I think that was the last time I had that dream. Up until then I had it often and it was very vivid.

I've had the teeth falling out dreams (still waiting for a recurrence since my youngest recently knocked a tooth loose---ewww). But I think my most common recurring dream involves walking along outside and realizing the ground is covered with snakes (which ironically is not something that scares me in real life, but in these dreams it gives me the willies) . Oh, and tornado dreams. Those are pretty frequent as far as recurring dreams go. I have looked up interpretations for these. Supposedly the snake dream means that there's someone untrustworthy in your waking life and the tornado dream means that you're experiencing a time of upheaval or that things feel out of control. I'm not sure what to think about the snake dreams, but the tornado dreams do happen more frequently in times of high stress. But having lived in an area with a high level of tornado-type activity not that long ago, it's just as likely that I'm still coping with the stress associated with the frequent weather threat.

Don't panic. I have also had an occuring nightmare, i spoke to my doctor. He recommended me to an expert. Try to calm yourself down and think of happy things before bed. Also, if things do not get better, i suggest talking to your doctor. Everyones case is different. I got perscripted to a medication that helped the dreams. Really helped! I hope this helps! :-)

Cheers!

I don't put a lot of stock in interpretations since dreams are so personal how can someone outside you better understand them than you. It also can be completely wrong and frighten someone unnecessarily. The dream you describe is very common. It could mean different things to different people. The best interpretation will be one that comes from inside you, not one that comes from someone else or a website. I have recurring dreams on occasion, had more when I was younger. If I look at them I can figure out what they mean. best way I have found is to keep a journal by my bed and write my thoughts and feelings down and anything that stuck out in the dream. But this has to be done immediately after, as time passes, at least for me, the details and feelings and everything fades. Most of the time I don't have time to think about what my dreams mean, but it is really cool, when you can find the time to really figure them out. Good luck figuring yours out, it can be a wonderful journey of self discovery.

I don't know if it's a recurring dream, but I have a former childcare client I dream about every so often. Interestingly, she's the only one of the moms I worked with.... and she wasn't a problem or anything.

I have dreams she's having a yard sale and I'm trying to buy things....

I have dreams I'm soaking in a tub and suddenly I realize it's hers and I can't get the water to turn off....

I had a dream where I was at her home and she and a friend had decided to raise chickens.... huh?!

Nothing provocative, but more 'where did that come from?' and very amusing to mull over.

I also had dreams for years about losing children in my care or having to protect them. The last one I had was when my son was a few weeks old, and it hasn't happened since. Maybe because I couldn't lose him if I tried?:) Kiddo's always around!

Actually teeth falling out is a very common dream. And usually it means that the person dreaming has a inner fear (or is dealing with) health problems. It can also be the bodies way of telling you (through you brain at night) that there is some health problem you may not be aware of.

I have the "teeth" element show up a lot in my dreams. I also have "chewing gum" elements, where I have gum in my mouth and I go to spit it out and I never can get rid of it all. It's frustrating. I also have "loose gum" dreams where my gums sort of detach and I have to spit it out.

Just try to remind yourself that it is just a dream, and you are weird. I'm kidding. The mind is a funny funny thing.

I hate my nightmares, I'm a vivid dreamer and sometimes my brain is so cruel and frightening.

Good luck to you.

When my life feels like it is spiraling out of control - I have the same dream - and it helps me get back the control I need.

I've NEVER had the teeth falling out dream. I think that would freak me out.

There are times when I have checked out dream interpretations and it has given me perspective into the dream(s) I was having - kinda a light bulb moment so to speak!!

I'm sorry that you are having a dream like this!! If it changes slightly - I would write EVERYTHING down when I wake up. Then it is still fresh in my head!!

I've had the teeth falling out dream as well. Not very often though, maybe only 2 or 3 times. I used to dream about tsunami's and getting caught in one. I mean like HUGE waves like the kind you see in those end of the world type movies. I used to dream about that at least weekly for maybe 5 years straight. I also used to dream about mountain lions in my room. I am deathly scared of them. I used to live in an area where about 2-3 times a year we would hear of a sighting on our street and I have even seen them before on our street when I was a kid. So, I've just always been super scared of them. I would even see one on tv and start crying. It's not so bad now because I don't live in that area now, thank goodness!
I haven't checked into what all the meanings are. I think the tsunami ones are being overwhelmed or something, but I'm not 100% sure

Not sure I can be much help. But I did have a recurring dream for years and I'd get these dreams 2 times a week for a couple months and wouldn't get it again for another 6 months or so. Mine is just like yours, but mine is where I am grinding my teeth together and they all fall out. I also used to have several dreams where I actually could fly (and it was in the middle of nowhere) and another one where I was being chased and no matter how fast I ran, I couldn't run fast enough to get away. I never checked the websites out I just figured I was weird as usual. Now that I have 3 children, I zonk out at night and I cannot even remember my dreams!

For years I have dreamt that I am walking through my house and that there are rooms there that I have never seen before. I just keep coming upon room after room I didn't know I had. I usually feel a bit frightened, but also happy to have all of this extra room. I sort of thought it meant I wanted a bigger house. I should look it up.
