The skin absorbs anything that is put on it. Once it soaks in the body sees it as a toxin and has no easy way to eliminate it. Petroleum jelly is just that a petro-chemical. Sure it is natural, but not something you want absorbed into your or baby's body. Try Avalon or Aubrey products they use organic ingredients without synthetics or chemicals such as parabens, propylene glycol, petro products, lauryl sulphates, dyes, lanolin etc. Now a days we really need to read ingredients...there are no real regulations on products we put on our skin. Instead of neosporin, I like to use Calendula which is a natural antibacterial ointment, B & T (Whole Foods or Sun Harvest) makes a good one without parabens. I hope this helps. C
