Hi Moms, I need a referral for a good adult dentist in the Pleasant Hill (or surrounding areas). I am preferably looking for a dentist that a) specializes in preventive care and b) where the dentist does his/her own cleanings (and doesn't fob you off to a hygenist!). If your dentist doesn't meet these requirements but you really like him/her I'd appreciate the info anyway!! Thanks moms!

What can I do next?

Hi J., I recommend Dr. Jerry Yao in Pleasant Hill. I went to him for 8yrs before having to change for insurance reasons. His phone number is ###-###-####. As with many people I am a big baby when it comes to going to the dentist. He does his own cleaning and I have always trusted him and felt comfortable with him. Hope this helps.

I love my dentist!

Dr Kwon and Jabbour (?) www.kandjdental.com They are located in Walnut Creek, near John Muir Hospital. ###-###-####
The dentists are all about preventive care and they do their own cleanings. (the assistant comes in and polishes, etc...) They are trustworthy, gentle and explain things well. They have all the latest instruments, movies to watch should you need more extensive work, and also do cosmetic dentistry. (Zoom and Invisalign)
The office staff is great too, good followup and email you an appointment reminder.

I have referred them to a few friends and they love them too.

Lastly, I moved my 9 yr old daughter from a pediatric dds to them - and she was very comfortable with them as well.

Hi J.,

I go to Kevin Ko in Walnut Creek. He does his own cleaning first with a water pick and then with hand tools. It greatly lessens the amount of scraping needed and makes for a more pleasant cleaning, at least in my experience. I have only started going to him and have not had any other dental work by him, so I can't comment on that part. If you want to try him out he's at 1181 Boulevard Way, Ste A in Walnut Creek, ###-###-####.

Julie Greenlaw-O'Toole is in WC and I think she's great. She does not do the cleaning but her hygienist is top notch. Very into preventative care. Because I have gum disease I get cleanings every three months and alternate between my dentist and periodontist so I need a look for a thorough cleaning. Good-luck!
