I have family that lives near Lake Murray State Park in Ardmore, OK, just a little over the state line. I think there are cabin rentals available and lots of activities. They love the area. I think it's about two hours from Fort Worth.
Any recommendations? It's just 3 of us, so a small place would be great. I've looked online and a lot of the stuff is HUGE, 4 bedroom or larger.
Husband is finishing 2nd year of Medical School and we'd like to take a real vacation, but not spend a bunch on airfare.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

My friend LOVES Jellystone Camp sites. I looked and they have one in east Texas (less than 3 hours from you) and one called Rustic Creek Ranch that I think looks like a ball for your kiddo. Google Jellystone Texas and you will see several options.
Have fun and enjoy each other! Congrats to your family on your husband's accomplishments. I worked helping doctors get set up in practices once their education and training was complete. You've all worked hard to get this done. Enjoy a celebration
Blessings!

Our family has gone to hot springs quite a bit. There are a lot of lakefront houses that are smaller. Even the larger ones seem reasonable to me. I know there are boat rentals on the lakes too and a lot of houses have docks or boathouses - I think there are three lakes there. Use VRBO.
Also, Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch in San Antonio. No lake, but they have a lazy river, larger pool, restaurant on site, and it is just a nice getaway. Close to sea world if you like that. 30 minutes from riverwalk and tourist stuff. I love this property.
Finally, and again not a lake ;) but go to the Other Place in New Braunfels. You can float the river, stand up paddle board, and eat well.
Good luck!
Have you tried Possum Kingdom Lake?
I do not recall the name but there is some ranch West of me (Plano) where you have meals by the fire and I think ride horses, etc. I will try to locate the neighbor who has since moved but they did a family weekend trip to some ranch in TX and loved it.
Lake Texoma but I am not sure what all they offer.
New Braunfels has the river rafting and fun things to do.
I'll try to think of some other things and get back to you. I know there are things around here, I am just blank right now on details.
We've been to Lake Murray several times. It's great!
