I highly recommend seeing In The Heights. It was fantastic! I was skeptical when I heard about it, but I really enjoyed it.
I know there are so many restaurants in New York City so I just wanted to see if anyone could recommend a specific restaurant they had been to there that they loved. My husband in I are hoping to go for our anniversary in May. We typically spend around $100 to 150 for a special night out to dinner (here in Maine) so looking for something close to that price range. We like many different cuisines. Also we are considering seeing a show maybe Jersey Boys or Wicked, has anyone seen both?

I loved Wicked and read the book afterward and loved that. I don't know if there are different versions of Jersey Boys, but I saw the New York group on tour and it was a mixed situation: great singing, horrible script and acting, and lots of profanity.
Google Gordon Ramsey restaurants in NYC...he's delicious.
We loved our dinner at Bar Americana. It is a Bobby Flay restaurant. I say stay away from The Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood type places, they suck.
I haven't been there in years, but I loved Tao. Amazing Asian food, including sushi, & delicious cocktails.
If you want upscale, two of my favorites are Babbo and Kraft Steak (might be spelled Craft... I don't know, sorry). They are delicious, fancy and perfect for a special occasion.
I love musicals and would really like to see Jersey Boys. I actually didn't like Wicked, but everyone else I know who saw it did, so I must be the oddball on that one!

http://www.mesagrill.com/newyorkcity/ This is one of Bobby Flays restaurants. I have never eaten there but he is one of the greatest chefs I know of. He is on Iron Chef America all the time and even has his own cooking show. I hope this might fit your taste for your Anniversary. :)
I don't have a restaurant recommendation, sorry. When we go, we will just pick at random. And some of our best meals have just been the little "local" places.
But we LOVED Jersey Boys. I'd go see it again! I really didn't care for Wicked, but as another poster said, I am in the minority of my friends. I think part of my thing was that Wizard of Oz, is one of my all time favorite movies and I just could not grasp that the whole story of Wicked happens before the movie. Personally, having seen both I would go with Jersey Boys. *I don't know of Billy Elliott is still playing or not, but we really didn't care for that one either. I really wanted to see it because Elton John wrote the music, but it is a show as much if not more about labor issues in Ireland as it is the music.
Have fun!
My husband and I go to Piccolo Angolo whenever we're in NYC.
It's a very small Italian place in the Village.
It's run by a really friendly family - they sometimes just bring stuff out from the kitchen and let us try different things.
