Reviews of Dr Litzinger And/or Dr Thompson

I am due in February and am currently with Dr Litzinger. I really want as natural a birth as possible with as absolutely little intervention. I haven't been able to find any good reviews of Dr Litzinger with any discussion of delivery experience (other than some really difficult ones which I hope mine won't be) nor any of Dr Margaret Thompson. Both were associated with Renaissance Women's Center back in the day.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your input. All very helpful. I am switching over to Sebestyen/Thompson office partially because all the doulas rave about Sebestyen and I feel the philosophy is more compatible with mine. Their office is also one of the few in town that has a Nurse-Midwife on staff. They are actually not afraid of mother's that want natural childbirth!

Ok I did not have her as my doctor, but saw her when my doc was away for a family matter. She was wonderful. My sister in law had her as her doctor and she delivered my nephew Kelly. She went totally natural for 17.5 hours and finally decided to do c-section to protect the baby. I have no idea of Dr. Thompson but I hope this helps. I also enjoyed my doctor Dr. Tara Mills, but she is still with Renaissance Womens Group. Best of luck with your delivery

Hi D.,
I am a local doula and I frequently work with Dr Thompson and her partner Dr Sebestyen. I love doing births with them. They really trust the birth process.

If you would like to chat with me about my experiences with them, I would be glad to do so. I have 2 moms due with their practice this month.

I have a particular fondness for Dr Sebestyen; I think it's her energy and passion for natural birth. I have experienced wonderful births with both of these doctors.
I wish you the best,
R. ###-###-####

Dr. Margaret Thompson was my Dr. for both my childrens births. However, when my second child was born my doctor was on hliday with her family and Dr. LitZinger delivered my baby girl. They are both very good Dr.'s. My experiences with them were great. My labor experiences were totally different for many reasons. One labor was perfect, one labor had complictations. Both deliveries were in different hospital therefore different as well. I can say that I beleive if you let Dr. Thompson know that you want your delivery to be as natural as possible, she'll be willing to help you achieve that goal. She has a Nurse and Midwife on Staff named Lisa Carlisle, who is great! I didn't go natural and after giving birth twice wouldn't recommend going natural either. However, Lisa Carlisle can lend advise if that is the method you prefer. I found that most of their staff have gone as natural as possible as well. Not me... loved the epidural, but both my babies were almost 9lbs with big heads!! Lots of Luck!! CJ

Congratulations on your pregnancy. You are smart to be considering the impact of the doctor on your birth experience. While both doctors that you mention are good, I have seen more of my students (I teach Bradley childbirth classes) and doula clients have natural birth experiences with Dr. Thompson and her partner (She no longer is part of the Renaissance Women's Center).

I wish you a positive birth experience,
K. Bolger

I have been going to Litzinger for 8 years and am expecting my 3rd. She delived my 1st at 35 weeks. She did a wonderful job. She has always been very personable, honest and knowledgable. For my 1st, she stayed a few hours after her night shift to deliver my son when she could have easily let her on-call partner do it. She wasn't on-call when I delivered my 2nd, but her partner, Dr. Gilbert did an equally fine job. As for a delivery with little intervention, I can't speak for exactly how she will handle it as I've always had epidurals and ok deliveries. I know she will put the health of the baby & Mom first and she has delivered sooo many babies that she has experience and a good gut feel about the process. I have had friends who have had other docs in the practice who wanted no intervention & all have complied with their wishes as much as possible. Hope that helps.

I just did Labor Support for a friend and her Dr. was Thompson. I thought she was kind of harsh. My friend loved her though. They ended up inducing to get the labor moving along faster and my friend did not go natural. : (

D.,

My Dr. was Dr. Thompson, although I did not do a natural birth I found her to be fantastic. My mother had my brother natural with Dr. Thompson 25 years ago and she liked her so much that she had me go to her. I don't know what kind of info you would like to know, but I can ask my mom for you. She didn't have any horror stories except that she wanted the epi after it was too late. Good luck and let me know if I can ask her any questions for you.
