My 1yr old daughter is on the petite side (has always been). The doctor assures me everything is okay and is growing fine! But of course I'm a little concerned because she is a light eater! I was wondering if any of you with 1yr olds could please give me a sample day of the food/milk your baby eat/drinks! I would really appreciate it! I stopped breast feeding 2 weeks ago and she is drinking organic cow milk right now (tolerating it without any problems.) Thank you!

My angel is on the petite side also. She eats like a champ but is so active that she burns what she takes in during the day. Here is what we eat:
Breakfast: oatmeal and a container of kid's yogurt
Snack: Veggie or fruit, crackers
Lunch: diced chicken, shredded cheese, a veggie, and either rice or noodles with a little butter
Snack 2: chicken or turkey, crackers, fruit
Dinner: Turkey meatballs, noodles, yogurt, veggie, cheese
Snack: yogurt and fruit
She drinks a cup of whole milk before nap and bed. She gets a cup of juice in the morning.
At this age you need to worry about sugar and salt intake and have fun with the fat. My daughter loves cheese and eats it several times a day. It's good for her and filling. Play around with her choices and have fun trying new foods. Avocado is great at this age.

I have a ten month old...I'm still breastfeeding, but will substitute cows milk for breastmilk once he gets to a year. Here's what he's doing now.
-AM 4 1/2 ou bottle
-half a banana and rice cereal
-late morning, early afternoon 4 1/2 ou bottle
-jar of vegies (although I'm likely to switch this out soon for probably about 1/2 cup of frozen peas or corn--thawed and warmed up) and 4 ou of yogurt---he LOVES the yogurt.
-late afternoon 3 ou bottle and probably some cheerios, also give him a sippy cup with water in it during the day
-at dinner I give him as much as he'll eat of small pieces of whatever we're having for dinner. I also give him as much as he'll eat of a baby food vegie jar. I also nurse him at dinner time
-nurse before bed and he still wakes up and nurse 1-2 times at night.

My 1yr old is a big eater.
She has a 4oz bottle in the morning, 2 containers #3 food between 9-10am, an 8oz bottle at 3pm, 2 more containers of food by 6pm and a 4-6oz bottle before bed. She also snacks throughout the day, approx 1/2 cup of puffs.
We are transitioning to regular food and whole milk. I hope this gives you an idea. Good luck.
A couple of my son's favorite dinner/lunch meals are home made chicken noodle soup and chicken and rice. I make the soup with carrots and celery that he picks out and eats first. The chicken and rice is easy because you can use any vegetable you like in it. We use broccoli or peas and carrots and the veggie always goes first when he eats it. Some of his favorite snacks are bananas, string cheese, apple slices (peel the apple first because of the choking factor). He is 20 months old now but he has been a fan of all these things for at least a year now. He had a LOT of teeth by the time he was a year though. Have fun!

13 month old boy eating schedule:
6am - 6 oz bottle of whole milk, 1/2 banana
7:30 am - 1 tablespoon of rice cereal and jar of baby food
10:00 am - 2 to 3 oz of whole milk from sippy cup (trying to train him off the bottle)
11:30 am - apple sauce or fruit of some sort
1:00 pm - 6 oz bottle of whole milk
2:30 pm - crackers and peanut butter or crackers and hummus, some fruit
4:00 pm - 2-3 oz of milk from sippy cup
6:00 pm - some food of what we are eating for dinner which always has some sort of meat and carb
7:30 pm - 6 oz of milk in bottle
water throughout the day
Breakfast- Oatmeal and vanilla yogurt mixed with a jar of fruit baby food, 1/2 a banana - sometimes he has toast
snack- gram cracker
Nap- 5 Oz of whole milk
Lunch- sliced turkey, 1 string cheese stick diced, and he loves canned carrots! applesauce.- sometime she gets pasta pickups or mac and cheese
snack- fruit
Nap- 5 oz whole milk bottle
Dinner- he tries whatever we are eating. He usually won't eat it. He then has- chicken diced, pasta, or rice, jar of veggie baby food
bedtime-5 oz of milk in bottle.
It took Trevor a few weeks (4-5) to really start eating real food. he still loves his baby food though!
He is 30" tall and 27lbs!
My little girl is 14mo now and is also petite. She started out at 8lb15oz, but has been working her way down the growth chart from 90% to 25%. Her ped says it's been a gradual process and nothing to worry about. She's healthy and happy! But here is her approx eating schedule as of now (i don't quite remember 2 mo ago, but it was close):
6-7am BF
8:30am Breakfast (scambled egg, toast, 1/2 - 1 banana), (1/4c oatmeal, 2tb yogurt, chopped fruit), (1 pancake, 2 sausage links, banana)...sippy cup w/ water
Mid AM snack (crackers/cheerios, chopped fruit), water/juice
1pm Lunch (grilled ham/cheese, 1/2 avocado), (1/2 quesadilla w/ shrerdded veggies inside, fruit or avo), leftovers...sippy w/ water
3-4pm BF
4-5pm Snack (Pirate's Booty, fruit smoothie), water/juice
6:30pm Dinner (pasta/chx&rice/veggies...whatever we are eating, probably about 1/2-1 cup total food, depending on how hungry she is)...sippy w/ water
7:30pm BF to sleep
2-4am BF
Now, somedays she just isn't interested in eating and others she gorges herself. It's all within a healthy realm so I don't worry about it. If she's full she's full. If she starts getting cranky I offer a snack. She may be petite but she's happy and healthy. If your ped says not to worry, then I wouldn't. Just enjoy this time with her!
**EDIT***She's also probably at the age where she wants to feed herself more. Eating takes a lot longer and can be messier, but I find if I let her do it herself, she'll eat more. She may tel me no if I try to give her a bite, buit if I set the spoon down she'll pick it up and eat. If you ahve the time and patience, it may be worth a try!
My son is only 10 and a half months old and still breastfeeding, but pretty thin (and very tall). I give him tofu, beans (lentils, mung beans, etc.), cottage cheese, egg yolk, things with a good amount of protein, to help him gain some weight. He has beans at 1 or 2 meals a day, and then one of those other things (or something else high protein) at another meal. His doctor also suggested meat, but we haven't really done that much. It has helped him gain some weight, although it took quite a while, the first month we started this he didn't gain that much, but over the last month and a half he has gained weight at a faster pace (was at the 3rd percentile for weight at 9 months, I think he's now in at least the 15th percentile).

One of the best items for helping the extra petite little ones is avocado cut into little tiny soft pieces. This has the good fat in it and little ones can eat it easily. I have two that were very thin, and still are. I'm so thankful for foods, like the avocado, that are healthy but also give their bodies the fat they need for their brains and such.

Here is what he ate today:
Breakfast 1/2 a banana, couple bites of whole wheat sourdough toast, 1/2 of an oro blanco 1 whole milk yogurt (he ate about 2/3 of it)
Snack 1/4 c blueberries 10 mini pretzels 2 tbsp whole raw cashews
Lunch rice pilaf, couple bites grilled cheese, broccoli (about 3 pieces)
Snack carrots, 1/2 banana and a cheese stick
Dinner about 1/4 c mac n cheese and 1/2 bread roll, 2 slices tangelo
