My family and my cousins family are planning a trip to Sea World. Can you give me suggestions on hotels? Good and Bad. My cousin can get a discount if we stay at Hamptons or a Holiday Inn Express. But I am more concerned about being in a safe area. As we will have 5 young girls with us rangin from 16 down to 6.

We've gone to Sea World twice, and both times we stayed at the Holiday Inn about a mile from Sea World. We used priceline.com, and got it for $69 a night. It's clean, it's got two nice pools, the rooms are decent, and they have a free shuttle to Sea World. We love it!

Both of those hotels are in good neighborhoods.
Anything in the Seaworld area are excellent.

I went on priceline and bid on a 3 star in the Sea World area. They have the whole town marked off into sections. I got a wonderful Marriott room for under 70 a night right across the highway from Sea World. It had a shuttle which was the best thing everl. Parking is $10 or 15 a day so that saves money and they pick you up right at the front, no walking through miles of parking lot after walking the park all day. Beautiful salt water pool and Shamu on all the elevators. I highly recommend the Sea World Mariiott

This may be out of your price range, but we loved Hyatt Hill Country which is right by San Antonio. We took our 3 girls last August. It was miserably hot and there was so much to do at the hotel that we only left the resort once - to go to the Riverwalk for dinner and a boat ride. (Of course my girls were all under 5 so they didn't really know that Sea World was right there.)

The la'quinta on blum street is in viewing distance from the alamo, and you can walk to the river walk from it. There is a marriott and a hilton but the rates are more expensive. La QUINTA is 130 a night, or about 320 a week.

My husband works the oil rigs in a near-by town and drives to san antonio at night. I asked him and he told me to tell you all of that.

Our family has stayed in several hotels on various visits and my rule of thumb is the hotel has to have a minimum 3 star rating. I usually use Hotels.com. We stayed at one hotel that was about 1 1/2 blocks behind the Alamo (I think it was the Springhill Suites or maybe an Embassy Suites) . . . it was very nice and had a great free hot buffet breakfast. And another time we stayed at an all-suite hotel near Six Flags Fiesta Texas and that was great, too.

Right around Sea World is a nice area. Don't get too far from the park in selecting your hotel because there are some not so great areas over on the west side of town. The further east you go, north of 1604 should be okay...as you are moving closer to the Six Flags Fiesta Texas area of town.

Any area directly around Sea World isn't too bad. You don't want to stay anywhere near the highway and Marbach (sp?) - my husband lived there before we were married and it was bad then.

We stayed at Wild Oak Ranch near Sea World. It is sort of like a mini resort. You don't just get a hotel room but you can get a suite wdining room and a kitchen, 2 huge pools w/2 huge water slides, an arcade, a TV room, a workout room and nice grounds for a walk. There offered movie night around the firepit and s'mores!
