I'd pop over to the school where the MST program is and ask if your daughter is on their list.
And what the heck is MST? I figure that GT is "gifted/talented", is that right?
My daughter is enrolled to start kindergarten in August. She went through GT/MST evaluations and was put on a waiting list for the MST program through the district. I enrolled her in a school and was told that if a spot opened up I would be contacted. About 2 weeks after the official notice of being placed on the waiting list I received a phone call that there was a spot opened and we gladly accepted the spot but I have not heard anything else back. I have tried calling the school, left messages there and with the GT/MST director for the district. I am thinking of calling the main administration because at this point I have no idea which of the two schools she is enrolled in. Before I received the call about the MST program I received notices about school supplies and dress code from the other school. Do I just try to keep calling the schools and the GT/MST director? At this point I'm really just trying to figure out where she is enrolled so I can do shopping and daycare selections. I know the school district doesn't shut down over the summer. Who else can I call? Has anyone else been in the same situation? How long does the enrollment switch take? **Our district is choice of school so I'm hoping that if she isn't enrolled in the MST program school then she will still be enrolled in the school we originally wanted. Just frustrated and wanted some advice.
I have considered stopping directly at the school but it is very hard for me to do that. I work full time now and while I go into work early I usually do not get off work until 3:30-4. I'll have to see if I can skip out of work early one day to get my questions answered.

Instead of calling the school, just GO to the school, in person and ask.
Get all your questions answered, that way.
Office Staff, is in school. Working.
Wow-choice of school? Wonder how that works with bussing? Anyhow-all principals and office staff are there all summer at our school and it is probably the same with yours. I would just pop in and ask if I were you. If nobody is there I would stop in the main admin bldg.
.
Your right, Garland ISD does not shut down for the summer but they do have time off and shortened work hours. Most DFW school districts work M-Th during the summer, including admin. The schools do shut down though, generally no more than 2-3 weeks. If no one is answering at the school, no one is there. You just need to call admin, however, if the GT/MST director is off, most likely no one will be able to help unless she has an assistant. Just keep calling but understand this is their vacation time though.
The principals in GISD do not go back until the week of July 25th. Call student services ###-###-####. They have the current information of where your child is enrolled and will be able to answer most of your questions. If you need to talk to the specific GT person or school, I'm betting you'll have to wait til the 25th.
Some school districts close down at noon every day. Call the Admin office and ask your question there. They can send a note to the proper person so you can get the information you need. They might even be able to look up on the computer and give it to you themselves but I would say they'll have to get the message to the proper person over that program.
