I would like some advice. I currently live in Belleville, NJ and would like to move to Cedar Grove once my home is sold. I do not care to much about the Belleville School system. I hear that the Cedar Grove area have a Great School System. Does anyone know if they have a morning program and an evening program. Unfortunaly I work full time and need both sevices. I want to provide the best education for my children. My husband and I grow up in Newark, and he feels any school is fine. I DO NOT. I am having a hard time getting through my day to day task at work and I am only a receptionist. I do not want my kids to have low self esteem because of lack of education, and lack of support from there parents. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I would like to say THANK YOU all for your responses, I received a lot of great information. Unfortunaly the elementary school does not meet all that I need for my daughter. I have such a busy schedule my day starts at 5:00 am until 12:00 midnight and having to worry about breakfast and lunch is too big to take on. I tried for the summer program and it was horrible having to bring breakfast and lunch. I work full-time.I would like my daughter to have a warm lunch. She is in school from 8:00am to 6:00pm and is only 6 yrs old. Maybe I will look into the Nutley school system. Any info on that? LOL :) THANKS AGAIN!

I'm not familiar with that school system. However, I'm sure their district/board of ed probably has a website. There will be contact phone numbers on there. Just call the schools themselves and ask if there are before care/after care programs. Also, the website might also give you other info about the system. Good Luck.

You might find the info you need here:

or call the school.

I'm a working parent myself and need the before and after care also which my town has. I'm in Little Ferry (Bergen county) though.

We lived in Cedar Grove for 1 year and my children attended South End school. I would say yes, it is a good school system. You can get the rating of schools by going to Greatschools.net I believe. The before and after program goes through the Montclair Ymca. I think it was a bit pricey but it was available.
Good luck.

I don't know about Cedar Grove, but I can definitely tell you that if you have not yet bought or rented a house in Cedar Grove, you should take a look at Hillsdale, NJ in Bergen County (about 5 minutes away from Paramus, NJ where all the shopping centers are). We have a great before-care and after-care system for school children, as well as great nursery schools. The school system is terrific at all levels and there is a lot of recreational (non-tryout) and tryout team sports leagues for all ages: soccer, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, etc. We have about 10,000 people in Hillsdale, 4 great supermarkets to choose from and we're close to all major highways (Garden State Parkway, NY Thruway, Routes 4 and 17). We're also about a half hour from the Lincoln Tunnel into NYC, about 20 minutes from the GW Bridge into NYC and 20 minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge connecting Rockland and Westchester Counties in NY. I sound like the Chamber of Commerce for Hillsdale, but I'm not. I am an Executive Senior Sales Director for Mary Kay, Inc., pink Cadillac driver and would love to chat with you further. If you'd like to do that, call me at ###-###-####. I hope this helps. I. Collins (mother of two: Boy, 11 and Girl, 9).

call the boe and ask them all your questions regarding after and before care and if you need kindergarten, ask about that too.
i work in cedar grove and from the parents who send their kids there, they seem happy with the school system.
