Hi! I adopted 2 precious kittens from a Veterinarian office in Gambrills, Md. Where do you live?
Hello All,
I recently came home on a lunch break only to find my beloved cat dead on the side of the road. I thought I would be ok, but find a void in my house without him. My son & I have decided to get a kitten, although he would never replace my previous cat. I was wondering if anyone knew of someone giving kittens away, or a good place to adopt? I would prefer a domestic short hair tabby, but open to others.

What areas are you looking to get one from? I may know of a couple of people with kittens still to give away. We are located in Columbia. If you're interested, e-mail me and I can let you know for sure. The people I know with kittens are my daughters friends, so she will have to ask them if they still have any left. My e-mail is ____@____.com.

In addition to humane society, animal welfare league and County and animal "rescue" groups and facilities which may operate in your area, I have a good friend who recently adopted a cat from a large Petsmart complex. She told me that the one she visited (Kentlands, Gaithersburg) had a 'last chance' room where animals can be viewed and interactions hopefully leading to adoption can occur, before animals must be euthanized. The center was clean, well run; the cats (and dogs etc.) were all perfectly groomed with all shots, some had already been spayed or neutered. You get a certificate and coupons for care, food etc. needed at a future date and rendered at a Petsmart, and a vet was on hand to discuss the animals. It sounded like a perfect situation! Sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you will find another cat to love soon.
I recommend going to a shelter. They usually will have been checked for feline leukemia and have had their initial shots. There usually will be an adoption fee, but that fee is more than reasonable given the care the animal has received. Also PetSmart and PetCo often have shelter animals in their stores.
Look on craigslist.com The people may change a nominal rehoming fee. We got one of our cats thru there. Then try the animal shelters. You can also try petfinder.com. We are adopting 2 puppies today through petfinders thru animal rescue group. It is wonderful!!!! We can't wait.
We have gotten several pets from the Montgomery County Humane Society in Rockville.
I'm sorry for your loss.
