Seeking Breast Pump

When I delivered the hospital gave me a Medela kit that was to attach to a rental, but also included a manual pump. I rented a Medela, was given an Evenflo electric and bought my own Avent manual. The Avent manual was the most effective for me, and was about $30, which is less than the price of renting the "hospital grade" for a month. I would highly recommend the manual Avent. You are so sweet for taking care of this for her. Hope all goes well with her delivery.

I think most hospitals will rent them to you. When I needed one after a c-section, insurance paid for it.

You can rent breast pumps from the hospital or babys r us. Good luck!

I have a Medela electric pump in style with the bag that was used maybe only 30 or so times (not because it didn't work, but because I had low milk supply and could pump for an hour and be lucky to get 3-4 oz.). I would sell it for $75; I paid over $200 for it originally. All the parts are there, but you may want to buy new tubes.

Congrats to yor cousin. You can try calling the hospital she is delivering at and ask if they rent pumps. Mine does (Christ Hospital)

PS Most purchased breast pumps are SINGLE USER ITEMS, like a bathing suit or a toothbrush. Buying new attachments doesn't prevent contamination from in the motor. Only Hospital breast pump can be used by lots of Moms because they have built in bacterial barriers.

Most indedpendent pharmacy's rent them for 50.00 a month. Good luck.

There are usually a plethora of pumps for sale, and at bargain prices!
(I got mine off of craigslist, too.)

I have a 2008 Medela Pump In style Metro Bag that I'm hoping to sell. We bought it in anticipation of the birth of our child, but then was given one by a friend. It's new and in the original box (never opened) and retails for $380.00 when we bought it. I'm selling it for $265.00. We were told by our friends (and from online research) that with breast pumps, you should go with the best (which unfortunately isn't cheap) - many had purchased cheaper pumps and still ended up having to buy a Medela one in the end. I didn't even give the other ones a try and having been using mine(an older version of this same style) everyday for almost four months without any issues.
