My 10 mth old son is currently being cared for (M-F) by an older woman that lives w/ my in-laws during the week (sort of a live in nanny/maid), who also cares for my niece and nephew after they come home from school and also does a good majority of the cleaning and cooking. Even though my son is w/ family, certain basic things are not being met even after 10 mths- ie. naps. I'm thinking the lack of routine and the not totally child friendly setting of a living room and kitchen are really getting to me. I'm really torn- I know I'll probally end up offending them when I tell her I'm going elsewhere, but just b/c it's affortable and family just doesn't feel like the best. I would like to find someone who does in-home daycare or a facility- who can focus on my lil' guy w/a routine and not have to worry about cleaning a dirty house. Do I just suck it up or look @ other options?? Also, any suggestions where I can post something in my neighboorhood- ie. local churches thank you!

What can I do next?

Hello my name is D., I have a licensed home daycare near 97th and vincennse. Not to far from you. I licensed for 8 children, but only take 3 to 4 children at a time, I like the smaller groups so I can focus on them better. I have a educational based program even with the smaller children. I currently have a 7 year old before and after school, her brother 3 who I teach preschool to, a 17 month old and a 4 month old. Feel free to email me if you are interested. My fee start at $135.00 per week all food included.
Thank You
D.

Hey A., I'm going through the same thing. My cousing comes to my house and watches my 10 month old (12/12/05). But I still feel like he's being neglected. When he was 7 wks old I went back to work and he slept through the night, now he does not, she likely has him napping all day. I come home early every now and then to sneak up and the little guy's pamper is soaked and wet.

But, at least I know her background. I even spoke to my pediatrician about this; she told me not to worry. She said that as long as the baby's basic needs, such as feedings are being met. I won't put him in a day care center until he can talk and let me know how he's treated, until then, I'm sitting this one out...you just can't trust strangers. The good thing is that I start work at 8am but my husband doesn't leave the house until 12:30, so she gets her at noon. My 15 and 13 y/o kids get home by 3pm, she leaves at 6pm whether I'm home or not but from the time my kids get home, they're basically taking care of him and believe me, they do an incredible job for their little brother. Good Luck!!!

Hi A.,

There is a very good Christian Day Care in Oak Lawn at 91St. and Ridgeland called Oak Lawn Day Nursery. Their phone number is ###-###-####.

If you are looking for care in your home, I am a nanny/mother helper. But this service is more expensive than a day care. If you are interested, please let me know. :-)

Good luck in your search!
