Hi Moms!!! My family and I just moved to the Tampa area. We are living in Largo and I am looking for a good Family Doctor or a Pediatrician in either Largo, Clearwater or St Pete. I would like to find someone who will not quickly jump to giving antibiotics, but someone who will give you natural remedies if possible and then medication if needed.

What can I do next?

P.,

Welcome to the area! I highly recommend our pediatrician Dr. Jeth Salomon. He is located in St Pete. He does NOT quickly prescribe meds or antibiotics, he is breastfeeding and natural parenting friendly, he is relaxed about vaccine schedules (will welcome your request for a delayed vax schedule or non-vax), kids seem to be comfortable with him and he is very easy going and relaxed about children all being their own unique child (doesn't stress about charts and statistics). I am happy there with all 3 of my kids.

I have many friends who use Dr.Vaughn on East Bay Dr in Largo. From what everyone says he is also very breastfeeding friendly and educated, acommodates delayed vax and non-vaccinating requests, doesn't quickly prescribe Rx and easy to schedule an appt... If I wasn't so happy with my Dr I would switch to Dr Vaughn since he is closer for me.

Best wishes and maybe we will see you at some Largo Library storytimes! My youngest is about the same age as yours!

There is a great Pediatrician (MD) who uses holistic methods as often as possible in North Tampa - worth the drive - not bad on the Veterans Expy. His name is David Berg - I have been quite impressed.

Welcome! We have been going to Drs. DiMarco and McNeely for 10 years now and are very pleased. They are both female and not quick to prescribe antibiotics. They are near downtown Clearwater, on Ft. Harrison. We love them!

Dr. Soloman was our kids' doctor from when they were born until just recently - he's too far away for us, but he was always very good with the kids - never a problem going to the doctor, they seemed to trust him. A very nice man with young kids of his own which I think makes him a little more understanding - he was always willing to answer our questions and talk with us.

Dr. Vaughn was recommended to me through Mamasource and he is closer to where we live. He actually answered the phone himself when I called which I loved! Really nice man, I would have moved to him but we couldn't switch because he wasn't in our insurance network.

We are now with "Partners in Pediatrics" in Clearwater - a husband and wife team. Our kids go to school with their kids. Both a really great, and Dr. Ernesto seemed to be really caring - he listened to our concerns and seemed to respond to them. I'm not sure about natural remedies as it just didn't come up, but my guess is they are very up on "modern" techniques, and would respect your wishes.

Good luck and welcome to Largo!

P.S. One complaint I did have with "Dr. Jay" (Dr. Soloman) was that when we called (kid was sick, but not sure if we needed to come in, but we wanted to talk about his symptoms) we never got to talk to him directly, we always got a call back from his nurse Karen. You could probably ask about that if it might bother you.

I go to Pinellas Pediatrics. Dr. Dimarco and Dr. McNeily. They are on Ft. Harrison in Downtown Clearwater. They are very friendly there, and the doctors spend time w/you and talk w/you unlike others who don't answer questions completely and rush you out the door. Wait time is reasonable as well. They didn't give my son antibiotics when he had a bad cold/flu...They said that they didn't want to give him anything, because they are trying not to hand out scripts unless they really need to so...###-###-####
