I am looking for a new pediatrician that is affiliated with Cook Childrens hospitals. A doctor that will not force vaccines if I choose not to get them for my child. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I just adore Dr. Sharon Jackson in Euless! She is a part of the Cook Childrens network. She is located behind Harris HEB hospital. My three year old has never been afraid to see the doctor when I tell him that we are going to see Dr. Jackson. He's afraid of everything else though:).

we go to dr nichols with cooks in keller on 1709. i waited a year before i got my daughter her mmr and he was fine with it. actually you can wait as long as you want but just have to fill out paperwork for the state of tx stating you willingly delayed the shots.

Dr. James Wheeler is off of Tibbets Dr. by North Hills Hospital and his group is fantastic! I have three children between 13 and 5 years old and they all love him. His assistant's name is Allison and she is equally great. He seems really open to our thoughts and concerns and we never feel rushed or pushed out the door. I do not know about vaccines as that question has not come up with us. Give him a call, ###-###-####. good luck!

i just moved out here from orange county california 5 weeks ago, but my midwife out here recommended an doctor of osteopathic medicine for my little one on the way due here in 2 weeks. her name is sharon dennis and she is in arlington. i'm not sure of the distance it would be for you, but i just had a meet and greet with her and she was very informative, a former midwife herself, and one who is not an advocate of vaccines. hope this helps.

Hi Heather,
I take my daughter to Vanita Shori. The office is in Grapevine on Northwest Hwy. We selectively vaccinate and also delay vaccinations using Dr. Sears alternative vaccination schedule. Dr. Shori was fine with this decision, and she's very nice to work with. The only problem that I've had with the office is that sometimes you wait and wait and wait in the waiting room. The first few times we went it took over an hour before seeing the doctor, but the last time we went it was only about 15 minutes.

My daughter has gone to Dr Shams Karimi on Grapevine Highway in North Richland Hills since she was born. You may try them; they are a Cook's Clinic. My daughter loves her.

I also recommend Dr. David Nichols in Southlake on Southlake Blvd. My kids have been going to him for 3 years and they (and I) really like him. He's the first pedi that they aren't afraid to go to. :)

Edited to add: I don't know about the vaccine thing first hand.

Check out Dr. Garza (she recently got married and her maiden name is Yok so she used to go by the name of Dr. Yok). She is located on Keller Pkwy by Tom Thumb. We LOVE her!

I have mixed ideas for Dr Nichols in SL and his office whom we've been going to for my son's first year. Dr Nichols was ok with my choice for delayed vaccinations but he did try to change my mind, and I was always asked to sign stuff which is probably normal anywhere you go.

Since we delayed vacs and got 1 per month, it was also awkward for us to be sent into a storage room rather than an exam room to get our shots b'c we didn't have an appt to see the dr. Just an odd way of treating patients. Is that normal? I'm not sure.

Now we're actually switching to a female pedi b'c my baby doesn't like men at all, and cries and screams every time he comes into the room. So I'm not sure if my mixed feelings for the Dr are biased by my baby's reaction to him, our odd treatment for getting shots irregularly or what. A couple of moms referred me to Dr Vanita Shori in Grapevine so that's where we're going to try. I don't like switching drs, but my gut is telling me to so I'm going with it.
