I agree with Beth, it is hard to find a job working from home. For me, I wanted something flexible so I could work while my kids were at school or at a friends but could be there when they needed to be driven around, to help at school & to be home to comfort them when they were sick.
I found Direct Selling was the best of both worlds. I started when my youngest was in kindergarten. While he was at school, I would get things ready for my events & make phone calls. I could do any research or learning about the industry at night when they went to bed or during the day when they were playing.
Now, my business has grown & I am able to work while they are at school but come 2:00, I get ready for the carpool lane, talk to my kids about their day, help with homework, run them to soccer.
Personally, I'm a wine consultant & run in home wine tastings. I love it!! It gives me time to be with adults & enjoy myself. I have time away from my family which is important as well & I schedule my events on the evenings I want to be out of the house. I didn't know a thing about wine before I started...a friend even said she was shocked I was starting this because I was such a "beer drinker" & she couldn't see me talking in front of a group of people. 3 & 1/2 years later & she's one of my biggest customers! Plus my income has helped to pay for vacations, when the hot water heater broke & most recently when the furnace gave out when it was 0 degrees! (That was a fun 2 days!)
There are other great Direct Selling companies out there, jewelry, candles, kitchen utensils, makeup, food, etc....as well as wine. You have to think about what you would be passionate about!
If you think Direct Selling is an option for you, I recommend making sure that the company is a member of the Direct Selling Association. You can check out www.dsa.org for more info. If you want to know more about my business specifically, contact me & I can direct you to my website.
I hope you find something that works for you!
Good luck &
Cheers!
