It's taken me a while to meet new people since our move and I would appreciate anyone who may have any suggestions for mom/child activities! I would love to meet other moms and exchange ideas or advice.

Hey A.! I am also a military wife, but will probably be GOING to California in June of next year. I take my daughter to gymboree. Its a play group in Pearl City with many different classes. She is currently in the Art class and loves it. She is 2 1/2 years old and has attended gymboree since she was a crawler. Since the groups are categorized by age, she made a lot of friends. The parents also have to stay with their children all the time, which makes it easier to talk with them and just let your kids play!! Take care, I hope that helps! How old is your daughter anyway?!

I go to Ohana Music with my son and he loves it. It is a little expensive but not compared to Gymboree or Kindermusic. Also have you checked with the bases? Hickam has a program called Kidsports that has lots of activities for toddlers and it is pretty cheap. Hickam also has gymnastics classes. There are also gymnastics at Island tumblers in Mililani for little ones.
Also I have a friend that is involved with Baby Huey which is a mom's group in Makikilo but she said they have them all over the island. One other area would be PWOC at the bases. I know Hickam and Schofield both have them with childcare available. Hope that helps.

The Mililani library has story time for different age groups. You can go in and check out the days and times for that. Also, Mililani Town Center has a clown and activities on Mondays at 11:00. The movie theatre there has Monday Morning Mommy Movies. At 11:00 you can bring your kids and watch with all the other moms and kids. I wanted to go this coming week to see Pirates... but I've got swim lessons. Hope you find some fun things to do.

Aloha There and welcome to the islands! You can check out Honolulu Mommies...it's a great group and they have a good website: www.honolulumommies.com There are Mommy groups and play groups and activities for parents and children in each area on Oahu. Good place to meet people. I would also suggest visiting the "local" events they have around town...if you do a google search for honolulu calendar of events etc., you will have things to check out, or look in the local newspapers. If you get into the local events and activities you will feel more at home and meet lots of other Mommies, local and Military alike. The locals are real nice... and friendly. Pay no heed to the complaints. You have to want to enjoy the islands and the people, then you will have a very fulfilling time here. It's so culturally diverse, and diverse foods. Lots to enjoy and culturally open. The Mommy groups are always great...just get out there and you will meet new friends for sure. People here are warm. Just venture out of your comfort zone....(if you are shy about it), just remember all Moms are like that at first. Also, you can of course find a new home church while you are here and meet others too... go online and check it out Honolulu Churches, and you will find one that suits you. Congratulations on your new baby who will be born in Hawaii! Well good luck and hope this helps.
