Does any know if there is any playgrounds or parks (with trees) near the Spring Valley area (zip 89118)?

Well, according to your zip code for spring valley, you look like you are kind of in a newer area of spring valley.

There is a park off w. flamingo and torrey pines.
(near busy street)

There is also desert breeze park off spring mt and durango
(little large, not to many trees)

Then there is Paul Meyer Park. (Older park, well kept, last time I seen it) it is in spring valley sub division off buffalo and trop, (look on mapquest.com) it is right behind a elem. school. (it is fenced off from the school, so it is opened durning school hours too.. quite little area away from busy traffic. Nice little place for picnic and playground with trees.

Also look under www.co.clark.nv.us
under the tab marked department P and click on park and recreations.

good luck

Wow! Just hang in there, I grew up here and the amount of parks has increased 100% since then. Desert Breeze park, corner of Spring Mountain, Durango, Then the All American Park, corner of Oakey and Bufallo. When I moved from CO I noticed not as many trees...but there are trees, head to Mt. Charleston for a day...Also mommy&mewest.org, that is a mommy group, that's how I found my playgroup. The Desert Breeze commmunity center may also offer things for you to try. Hope that helps, there are actually lots of activities for kids around, C.

Hi M.,

I understand your frustration with Las Vegas. I have an almost 2 year old daughter and wrote a very similar request to yours when she was about 8 months old. Now is the time that they start needing more stimulation than one house can offer! Plus, I needed to get out too. I can give you a few ideas that someone helped me to find.

All of the Las Vegas libraries have some kind of free storytime hour in the mornings. You can go online to check it out. I love the Summerlin one on Tues. at 10:30. Some of the other moms and I go to Einstein bagels afterwards and chat and vent! You could try Gymboree classes too. I liked those while my daughter was under a year. There is one in N. Las Vegas off of Cheyenne and one off of the 215 at Stephanie. Swim classes are a great thing too. I started my daughter at 6 months and she is still doing them and will be swimming on her own soon. We go to the YMCA across from the Meadows Mall and I love the instructors. I hope that helped a little bit. Good luck,
K.
