Hi! My husband and I are expecting twins in December/January. I'm told that I should select a pediatrician prior to their births so that the person can be contacted. Does anybody have any recommendations for the South Hills of Pittsburgh? What do you like about your pediatrician, etc? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I like Pediatric South. I go to the Mt. Lebanon office (they also have one in Peters Twp). My kids are signed on with Dr. Ascherman but they also have seen Dr. Herlich, Dr. Mowad and Dr. Faust. They all take time to listen to my concerns and explain things I need to know. They talk to the kids and are kid-friendly. The nurses are also very nice and work well with the kids. IMO they are pretty good about keeping on schedule - we are usually in an exam room within 10 minutes of our appt time. I typically don't have trouble getting an appt in a reasonable amount of time (day of for urgent needs, next day for less urgent needs).

I also take my doctor to Children's community pediatrics on fort couch road. I go see Dr. Ciampa. She is really nice and sweet. I have seen another doctor there i really liked although i don't remember her name and I also thought the nurse practicioner was great too.

I second Lisa on Pediatrics South. We go to the Peters office and mainly see Drs Gosling and Faust. They are absolutely wonderful!! We've been taking our kids there since our first was born in 1996. They are very understanding and caring. They don't have a 'call-in hour' per se...you can call anytime of the day and speak with a nurse (atleast in Peters it's that way). They actually have a nurse at a desk and computer for the entire day doing nothing but taking calls from parents. We actually interviewed pediatricians before our first was born and happily chose this one. I can't say enough about them.

Good luck with your decision and the wonderful adventure of twins!!

K.,
I also am a mom of twins. I used to go to Pediatrics South in McMurray and Dr. A. Gosling was very good. However we moved and also my older son wanted a male dr so we switched to Children's Community Pediatrics on Ft. COuch Rd. Their phone is ###-###-#### and website is www.cc-peds.net. They are part of Children's Hospital. I like ALL of the doctors. My older sons see Dr. Silverstein but I take the twins to Dr. Park because she has twins herself (that are about 5 I think) and she was really helpful in answering questions from that perspective. Whatever you choose, congratulations, twins are special. The first few months are tough but it gets better and better.

I absolutely LOVE my group. Here is the link:

Dr Ketyer is my favorite doc, but I have not met one I do not like. Their office is in Bridgeville in the Chemtech building. They also have an office in Peters Towonship. EXCELLENT docs, with evening and weekend hours. There is always a doc on call if you have questions or problems. They are wonderful and I just cannot say enough good things about them!

I like Children's Community Pediatrics on Fort Couch Rd (across from DeLallos). They always fit you in for a sick visit and even have Saturday morning hours if you need them (things always tend to happen after 5 on Friday!). They have a lot of docs but I haven't seem anyone I didn't care for.

I take my daughter to pediatric alliance. They were voted the best pediatrican in pittsburgh for the last 4 years or so. They have an office on rt 51 by primanti's and an office in greenfield. They specialize in alot of different things. You should check out their website www.pediatricalliance.com

I use Pediatric Alliance too, in McMurray/Waterdam. I delivered my first child at St. Clair where my OB was and the pediatricians work out of there too. I am pregnant with my second, 5 yrs later and am using the same Ob and pediatricians. You can call and talk to a nurse if you have a question, they have call in hours, and sick kids and well visits are seperate, as are the waiting rooms.
