Hello Mamas,
I have been growing my hair for over a year, since my grandma (cancer diagnosed in August 2006) and Aunt (cancer diagnosed in October 2006) were diagnosed with cancer. I would like to make a hair donation for wigs for cancer patients. Does any one know of a legitimate place I could do this at? Ive called some hair salons, but they cannot guarantee they will ship it or they dont know where it could be mailed to. My hair is about 24 inches below my shoulders so I believe I can make 2 donations. I would like to do this in Honor of both my Grandma and My Aunt. Does anyone have any info that could help??
Thanks a million,
I.
Thanks for all the support!!! Unfortunately, my aunt passed away about 5 weeks ago. I only wish that she had known what my intention is. I will still donate my hair in Memory of her and in honor of my Grandma.
Thank You All!!!

I've had a few friends donate to them.
I just recently saw an episode of e-vets on animal planet about a vet who cut 30 years of his hair and donated it for the purpose you listed and I thought it was so great, but the dummy I am I forgot to write down the place they said , so I looked and found Locks of Love, you should be able to get the info you need there.

I hope this helps, it is a wonderful idea! God be with you and your family!
I second "Locks of Love". I cut mine a couple of months ago and had to send it in myself. They used to have salons listed on their site that would do it for you, but they don't anymore. I had mine cut at Rocket Science Salon and sent in the donation myself.
It is such a great feeling, and you're making someone VERY happy...besides yourself. ;) :D Best wishes to you!!! :)
This is a wonderful and kind gesture on your part. I just wanted to let you know that Locks of Love does not donate their wigs to people with cancer but to children with Alopecia Areata which is a disease where the autoimmune system develops an allergy against the hair follicles and causes part or all of the hair to fall out. I don't know that there is a foundation like this that donates to people with cancer as the cancer treatment is usually only for a matter of months where as alopecia can be permanent. Good luck. C.
