Help! I'm going nuts at home with the weather refusing to get warm. My son is driving me crazy. He's bored and I'm bored and we are both tired of playing with eachother. Any advice as to where I can take him to interact with other children? Maybe even get a little exercise myself?
Hi L.. If you are looking for a playgroup, I have a good recommendation for you. I am a member of a yahoo group called ActiveMommiesinWayneCounty. We are a great energetic & fun group. Most members live in Westland or Garden City. You should stop by Yahoo and look us up!
there are some yahoo groups you can join that are local and meet for playdates. michiganmamas, metro michigan moms are two that i know of, i know there are more.

I really like taking my son to Jungle Java. I get my exercise by running around after him and he has a great time playing with the other children. I've only been to the one off Orchard Lake but I heard there is one in Canton too! Let me know if you hear of anything fun, maybe my 18 month old son and I will join you. :)
Check out two organizations: Canton Summit - they have open groups that you show up and pay $1 or maybe $2 to socialize and play with other kids. And, Plymouth Newcomers and Neighbors has a playgroup scheduled almost every day. They both have websites. The Plymouth group is open to neighboring cities, so even though it sounds like only Plymouth people, it's open to everyone. I have met women from Canton, Northville and Ypsilanti in that group. Also, check out your local library for free programs and look into www.harmonyandmekids.com. It is a wonderful music class that takes place in Canton! Hope that helps!

i have a 6 years old lil girl that loves to go to the wayne rec to go swimming even as cold as it is, its all inside and and it woudl be a change of pace, something different. and you would both enjoy it and relax. and if you needed a break the water is shallow enough your lil angel wont drown. i know cause i cant even go in the water cause i have a hole in my throat where my voice box and larynx was removedd so autumn pretty much plays by herself. but she has a great time doing it', id love to get in with her but i cant ill drowned and she knows that, and shes ok with it at least i took her. it really is a nice indoor pool. hope this helps

I am also 32, live in Westland and I have 8 month old twins. I can't help you during the day, but if you are interested in weekend socializing, my babies are definitely already comfortable with being around another baby, what's one more!
I run 2 playgroups in Southgate, but there are 11 sites in the downriver area that has playgroups. Call the Guidance Center or go to the website for more details. www.guidance-center.org. They are called parent/child interaction groups.

Hi! I am in westland, too. My daughter is 17 months old, I have three stepkids ages 12-19. I'm 41. We're within walking distance of Jaycee park (the one next to the ice arena). That's what we do for exercise when it's decent outside. could walk in the mall otherwise...my husband works alot too. I am free most Fridays and some weekday afternoons...what do you think?
