Seeking White Laundry Advice

Just wondering if anyone had a favorite product they use for white wash. I've tried the oxyclean spray and it has destroyed many items-I hate it! It leaves bleachmarks and actually ate through one of my sons outfits!! And putting bleach in the load doesn't really whiten like I'd like it to.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I use white vinegar. I put it in where the fabric softener goes. It seems to work really well and the clothes do not smell like vinegar. They just smell fresh. I have noticed that my whites are more bright now that I am doing this instead of using bleach. Give it a try!! You just put the same amount of vinegar as you would fabric softener and fill the rest of the dispenser with water.

I use the oxyclean powder along with my laundry. I've never had a problem with whitespots or destroyed items. I pretreat stains with laundry detergent and run them on the prewash cycle with a scoop of oxyclean. My whites come out beautiful and the stains are gone from the clothes. I always use it on light colors as well, because I can wash it in warm water. Never had a problem. I hate using bleach for anything except mold. Hope this helps.

HI S.,

bleach is very toxic. I use a product that is more effective than oxyclean. Guaranteed results - or your money back.

I recommend you use it with the laundary detergent also - they are part of Shaklee's Get Clean Line. Here is a link to my website. www.shaklee.net/healthmatters4u/getclean/index

Nature Bright is the product I recommend for whiter whites & brighter colors. It does not harm the fabric!

Here is an example of how it well it works. This includes a couple of other demos.

I use the oxy powder for pre-soaking and in every wash. I keep a bucket in my sink and put things directly in there when there is a stain. It is amazing. I use it with all my baby items and it has never not gotten a stain out. It removes everything. I have even left some secondhand items in there for weeks at a time to get out the stubbornist of stains, and sure enough -- everything comes out.

I have never used the spray, but I can tell you it has never eaten through anything -- expensive dresses, onesies, tights -- nothing.

My mom used to use bluing powder with great success, but I think she switched to oxy. Might want to try the powder. I swear by it, and so does everyone else in my family.

Hi S.. Try using Shout. Spray it on the stain, scrub then soak in warm water for about 30 minutes before washing.

I like to use Spray and Wash Dual Action Stain Remover. It works really well on old and new stains. It is probably one of the more expensive stain removers out there but it really works great.

I soak my whites in warm water with powdered dishwasher detergent before sending them through a wash cycle. I got the idea from my grandma and I think it works very well - noticeably better than bleach.

Hi S.,
Here is an awesome mix for your whites. The good thing about it is, it's very safe, no harsh chemicals involved, has natural ingredients hence good for your family and the environment.

1/2 cup of diamond bright
1/4 cup tub & tile
1/4 cup Melamagic
1 1/2 cup of prespot
1/4 cup of Mela Brite (optional)
Pour in the 96 ounce container and fill the rest of the way with water. Shake well before using. Use 2 to 3 pumps of the laundry whitener, in place of bleach, per large load of whites.
Email me for info on the products and where to get them.

Good luck,
L..

Hi S., The all fabric bleaches are easier in clothing. There is something by Amway called "smashing White" that is great. I'm sure you can find a distributer in your area. Grandma Mary

Yellow Out! Or a product like this works great on ALL white clothing and linens (do not use if there is any other color will remove/lighten pigment). We have very hard/iron water, so things start to turn dingy and yellow quickly. I have used several of these yellow out products and they all work great! Found at grocery stores and Walmart.
Good luck

Try using less detergent and rinse twice. The gray color comes from soap residue.

S.,

I use Nature Bright from Shaklee. If gets clothes whiter and can be used a a stain pretreater. I've found other uses for it as well around the house. I use it in conjunction with their laundry detergent and sometimes use their fabric softener which prevents wrinkles in the clothes. I buy direct from myself, I'm a distributor. You can only buy Shaklee from a distributor. I listed my website below in case you want to check out this natural cleaner. Good luck

I have been using Nature Bright by Shaklee's Get Clean line for years! We do not use bleach in my house because of it's high toxicity. I've never had an issue with getting any stains out.

I've always found that real Clorox Bleach and warm water do the best job on whites. (for me anyway and my husband can get pretty dirty fixing furnaces!) For stains use 1/2 cup clorox all-color bleach and 1/2 cup dishwasher detergent and soak the stained garments in the hottest water you can get from your tap. I do this in the washer - just fill with straight hot water put in the detergents and the stained clothes and Ilet it chug once or twice then turn it off overnight. Wash in the morning and almost everything comes out like magic! I got the recipe from the Tightwad Gazette and it really works

Try using Grease Lightning or Shout Advantage. I use both for pre-treating and even use the Grease Lightning for household cleaning, it works wonderful on the tub, toilet, sinks, and even ceramic tile floors. We now keep a 2 1/2 gallon of Grease Lightning and at least 3 bottles of the Shout Advantage in the house all the time.

My water in our town and bleach.. doesn't make the whites really white... I use Calgon... (it's a water softner additive..) in the soap aisle.. it's a powder, comes in a box.. usually by Clorox 2 and things like that. I love Calgon.. it works great. Also Tide Powder works great.. good luck.
