Mine did this at 10 months. And she drinks out of a sippy cup with the flip up STRAW much better than any other cup.
I have been in the process of weaning my baby. I have gotten her down to 2 nursings now, one in the morning, and one at night. Well, yesterday morning, she got up and was EXTREMELY mad at me for attempting to nurse her. I finally gave up and fed her cereal. Again at night, she nursed for maybe 30 seconds and then was very mad at me for attempting to nurse her. Same thing this morning! She is eating her baby food just fine and is doing okay drinking from a cup (not great though). My other 2 had full interest in nursing until I slowly weaned them completely at 12 months. It is just so odd to me that she is refusing to nurse! Has anyone else had this happen with their child?

My son did the same thing. He was done...tooo busy to nurse. He wanted food. I know you may not be ready for her to stop but it seems like she is. I don't know if I helped, but you have older children so you know they are all different.

Two of my boys were that way. I expected to wean for several weeks and it just took a few days because they were ready to stop. They too acted "offended" that I was trying to nurse! In the end it was a blessing because the weaning process went so smoothly (and quickly).
Maybe your milk taste different, did you eat anything new or something strong flavored like cabbage or spicy food. Also, my kids would sometimes not eat much when there were too many distractions. If you are not ready to stop nursing then just keep offering in the morning and night or try during the day. Sometimes mine would seem to go on strike, but I didn't want to stop before they were one, so eventually they started nursing again. Keep trying and good luck.
My son (now 4) did the same thing when he turned 1. He was only doing one AM and one PM feeding and one day just stopped. I don't think that it's anything to worry about.
My daughter did the same thing at 4 1/2 months. Its like once she got a taste of food that's all she wanted. I was really upset about it cause i wanted to continue to nurse but she just wasn't having it. They sure do assert themselves early don't they? Hope this helps.
That is not odd AT ALL. My older daughter did the exact same thing when she was 6 months old, and my younger daughter did that at 6 weeks old. And, it was worse than just a 'nursing' strike...they literally weaned themselves. So, I think 11 months old is GREAT for her to be just now doing this!!!!
Sounds exactly like what my daugher did at 11 months except she also starting BITING!!!! OUCH! So, needless to say, she self-weaned before I was ready. Boo-hoo!
Same thing happened with another friend.
Best wishes!
We have 4 children, and 2 of ours did this same thing...one was 9 months old and one was 10 months old when they weaned themselves. It sort of happened overnight for us too. Just one day they pushed me away and refused to nurse. It made is easy for me, because I was dreading weaning them if it meant I would be witholding it from them.
Good luck!
The advice below makes sense to me. If you suspect it may be more than that, have your pediatrician take a look at her ears. They may hurt when she's swallowing.
Hope this helps!

It might be that your milk production has decreased to a point that it's not coming at a fast rate or amount like she was used to, which makes her mad, especially if she's hungry. I did notice that towards the end of nursing, but usually it just meant shorter nursing periods, not anger--but each baby is unique! Good luck!
This totally happened to me with my son. At around 11 months, he just quit nursing. He wanted nothing to do with it. I wasn't even trying to wean him yet. It was a huge blessing because I was dreading trying to wean him.
My son completely weaned himself. Once we started solid foods, he gradually stopped wanting to nurse. He was completely done except for the night-time feeding by 12 months and that was gone by 15 months. And he did this all on his own.
My daughter gave up nursing (completely on her own) at 6 months and would have nothing to do with baby food, so she began eating very soft table foods, ie fresh veggies, Gerber cookies and crackers, etc.
Hope that helps.
