They can make baby blankets (as easy as cutting up cute squares of fleece, no need to sew) for preemies or baby's in the hospital that do have very little coming home. A friend of mine made burial clothes for babies as well. We made (but you can purchase) pillowcases and stuffed them with pillows for children in foster care or shelters who usually have very little belongings when they have to leave homes in a hurry. They can beautify a run local down park or local old cemetery, by pulling weeds, planting flowers. They can make homemade cards for a local nursing home or veteran's hospital, who often are older and lonely and they can go and visit with them.
One idea that was really neat, is a group of girls did hair, makeup and got donated used prom dresses. They held a beauty pageant for disabled girls and women, (most of them were down syndrome or something of that nature). Everyone got a prize for something unique to them.
