Last yea,r after the season, I bought some Christmas things from Oriental Trading - enough to make 36 goody bags for my daughter's classmates for the following Christmas season. However, my daughter is now in a different school this year. And the policy here is to spend money and buy gifts for the homeless shelter the school supports rather than spend money on goody bags. I LOVE that idea and I agree with it completely. However, now I'm left with all this stuff - I'd love to try and selll it and use that additional money for more items for the needy children. I have a ton of coloring books, little snowmen plush beanbags, snowmen pens, and stickers. I don't know if I should put the goody bags together and sell them that way or keep the items individual..... I tried Craigslist and Ebay with no bits. Any other ideas???

Hello Moms! I think it's a good idea to donate them - I didn't even think people would really want them. But the idea of giving them to a children's ward at a hospital is such a great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that's what I'm going to do. It'll be fun for my daughter and I to still put them together and then bring them to the hospital where she knows that little kids who are sick will get them. Thanks for the input!!!

But it seems to me, that you have things already... that can be donated to your daughter's class request that "gifts" go to the homeless shelter that the school supports.... right?
I would donate to some organization that would use and appreciate it.

I bought a craft kit project for the schools valentines party that never happened b/c of weather....I just gave the kits to my son's teacher to use the next yer. You could still donate those specific items to a homeless shelter for women & children...or to a church with kids groups.....
I agree that you should donate them (pregnancy crisis center, battered women's shelter, Shriners, etc.), but your question was where to sell them. If there is a craft fair in your area you might get a booth there, try selling them through your local paper, or have a small garage sale/open house.
why not fix them anyway and find a place to donate the items? I am sure that a local shelter, mutual ground, food pantry etc. would love to have a small goody bag to give to children for the holidays! We have a food pantry here in sugar grove that has over 120 families signed up. I imagine that is the case in a lot of towns. or check with a local church. 36 goody bags would really be a nice thing to do.

Our food pantry in our town would appreciate donations of that type. They not only provide food but also provide for families in all ways possible. Please consider donating to your local food pantry. There are lots of families out there in need of christmas gifts for their children.
