I have been thinking of puchasing a shark steam mop. I was thinking the steam mop might do a better job then the "old fashioned way" and I love the idea of no chemicals. Has anyone tried this mop? Do you like it?

What can I do next?

My mom just let me borrow her Bissell Steamp Mop, and I loved it. I'm planning on buying my own soon. It did a great job and was very easy to use.

I bought the shark vaccuum at bb&b... you might find the steamer floor mop there, too. you'll be abe to use the 20% off coupons, and I bet they stand behind their product! good luck, let us know if yo buy and like. I want to get one, too. I also saw a pricier one called h2o mop... do an internet search!

I don't have this particular mop, but I do have a steamer and I love it. It is so much better than a sponge mop and all the floor cleaning chemicals. The cleaning pad just goes right in the washer with the rest of the towels or rags and I know that my children can play on the surface right away without inhaling fumes!

Love it!

I bought the shark steam mop and enjoy the convenience of this product very much. It is very light weight and easy to use. The steam process starts in less than a minute. I recommend purchasing extra pads, they are machine washable, but find that I need an extra every now and then, it depends on the size of your floor and how dirty it is. I hope this information is helpful to you! Good luck. L.

Hi M.. I few months ago I purchased a shark steam mop because I like the idea of no chemicals. I like it and it does leave my floors clean. I recommend that you get extra pads. It comes with 2 pads but I find myself using both when I mop the house. By the way, I got my in ebay at a fraction of the regular price and it was brand new.

I don't have the shark brand, but I have another one that came out years ago, and I don't like it. It is SLOW! It takes a long time for the steam to work on the dirt, so it takes 2-3 times longr to get the job done then if I just scrubbed. It is good for getting dried dirt off, like dried gelatin, but not worth the effort. Mine is a floor mop, not one that has attachments to use on counters and other areas. It just sits in my closet taking up space. Hope this helps.

Hi M.,

I was attracted to your post because I'm all about getting rid of the chemicals in my home.

I also noticed your "About Me" section and wondered if you'd be interested in totally converting your home with Green Products that cost the same or less than regular store brands.

When I found myself thrown into early retirement I looked into ways to work from home to help fill my day. I tried a few things, but was truly blessed when I stumbled onto The MOM Team. This was a business and company that truly made sense, and the best part was that it gave me a way to provide safer better products in my home to protect my family from the effects of dangerous chemicals.

If you'd like to have a look at this, here's my website:
www.ThisFamilyCounts.com I'd be glad to show you how I grew up! It was the best decision I've made in a lonng time.

Sincerely,
M. O

I HAD one, worked great at first and then just quit working (no steam came out anymore) the company would not stand behind it. Maybe they have improved since then (2 years ago). I had to purchase a few 'mop' towels and cut them up to get a floor done but that was minor. Good luck.

A friend of mine was just telling me about this mop. She did NOT like it. She said it left streaks all over the place. Not all floors are the same so if you do get it and don't like it you can always return it. I personally have a swiffer wet jet and love that.

Hi M.,
I don't know about the shark steam mop, but you got a lot of mixed responses. I just wanted to tell you about Shaklee's Basic H concentrated cleaner, which does a great job on any washable surface and you only use a tiny bit. Some of your responses said the steamer didn't really 'clean' but left streaks. Maybe they could put just a few drops of Basic H in the water reservoir, as this cleans anything and leaves no residue. Basic H is just a surfactant made from coconuts and corn- Oprah loves it and so do I. I clean carpets with it and just 2 drops in 16 0z. of water makes the best darn window cleaner- no steaks! Windex contains butyl cellosolve, a toxic chemical, and Glass Plus has been removed from the market. Shaklee products are all safe, plant-based- even have recyclable paper dryer sheets. After being a dental hygienist for 31 years (loved it), I have found what I want to do-I have fallen in love with Shaklee products and I now am a distributor. I love helping people to have safer, healthier homes. Shaklee has been green since 1956, and are the first climate neutral company in the world, 2000. Check out my Mamasource business M. Goes Green! or go to www.shaklee.net/marilynmalvey. To see as good 18 min. report on household chemicals from the CBC, go to www.thegloblsuccessteam.net and click on "Toxic Brew"- this blew my mind when I saw it. Good Luck with the shark! M.

When I saw the infomercial for the shark steam mop, I was very impressed but wasn't sure about putting so much money into something I was doubtful about. I did some internet reseach and found a similar steam mop called the Lysol Steam Mop that was less than half the price of the shark and thought I would give it a try. I am absolutely in love with it! I would not recommend it for big jobs but it is very handy if you need to touch up. I especially love it for the bathrooms, it even gets around the toilets. Hope this helps.

I have this mop and love it! The first thing I like about it is that it doesn't use any chemicals, but still disinfects & cleans effectively. In fact, the steam disinfects much more than a regular mop or Swiffer. I have a one year old who enjoys eating her leftovers from the floor so the steam cleaning lets me feel a little better about this. The other thing I like is that the cleaning pads are machine washable so it saves cost over time. I think the convenience factor is also a big plus, I often get out my steam mop and clean my floor after having guests over (like a bunch of messy 3 year olds!). I think that with the switch to "green" living, there will be a lot more use of steam - washing machines are now coming with steam cleaning and even Medela offers microwave steam bags for cleaning infant supplies. I saw the Shark Steam Mop at Costco and it's a great price...I would highly recommend it!

I was wondering about this mop myself. I don't have one but I did have the Scunci Steamer with the floor attachment and it was WORTHLESS!! the pad only touched the floor in 2 narrow strips where it attached to the wand and even at that area where it made contact with the floor, it hardly cleaned up anything.

If you have a swiffer wet jet or clorox mop, you can use a vinegar (75%) and water (25%) solution to refill the bottle when it runs out rather than buying the expensive refils and there is no chemicals. It is safe on non-porous surfaces. It's great for sealed hardwood floors.

I have the Bissell Steam Mop (bought it on HSN) and absolutley LOVE IT!! Very quick to clean the floor, sans chemicals! I love mine and use it all the time. One larger cash investment and then all you need is good ol' H2O. I also have the Swiffer Wet Jet and the Swiffer regular for dust. Nice, but the refills are expensive and it doesn't do the job hot steam can do to get marks and gunk off of your floor.

I purchased this mop, used it once and took it right back! It was VERY hard to use...they say it is light, which it is to carry, but it is very hard to push..my back was killing me.

Also, your house does not smell clean when you are done...all that work and no clean smell...ok, the trade off for no chemicals, I can deal with that.

But, the kicker was the white sock test.....YUCK! I mopped for an hour and it missed a bunch of stuff. When I went over the floors again with my swiffer mop, the dirt went right through the pad!

Save your money and go with the swiffer mop! They make green products now.

My sister-in-law bought one at the same time as me, felt the same way and took it back!
