I have a Rubbermaid one with a red microfiber cloth (from Target). I fill it with vinegar and water and it does a beautiful job on my floors. I have a few extra pads, and now I don't have to buy any refills or use chemicals... it's GREAT!

I love mine. I find it cleans my sheet vinyl in my kitchen pretty good. It is a little pricey, but I don't mind. Its so convenient and easy. And I actually like the smell of it!

I like to have the Swiffer around for quick touch-ups, but don't find that it does well for a thorough all-over cleaning. For a good weekly cleaning, I use a Shark steamer and have good results.

I love mine. I have hardly had to change the batteries in it, and I feel it's especially good for those "uh-oh" spills. I also have all hardwood and laminate flooring...no carpet.

Swiffers while seemingly convenient only add more trash to the environment.

BE GREEN - USE YOUR HANDS AND KNEES.

There is no way you can see the dirt on your floor from a 5 foot distance :)

I don't like mine...other than the extra cost just like everyone else mentioned. I find it just pushes dust around the floor. I do still use it daily, but I still vaccum and mop about twice a week, when possible. I have an almost two year old and babysit a six month old 5 days a week, so I really need the floors to be sparkling clean. I think it is better to just suck it up and mop though it's a pain to wait for the floors to dry. I like having the wet jet just for touch ups throughout the day.

I love my Wet Jet! I would get a steam mop but I have wood floors and even though they are sealed I'm not sure its best so Wet Jet it is! I know it has a lot of chemicals but my theory is its the chemicals that clean the germs. As long as children and pets aren't touching it while its wet I say its fine.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Wet Jet!!!! It doesn't leave my floor sticky, and I'm always surprised by how dirty my floor actually was! I do wish I could find something to get into the cracks between wood pieces....

I had one but didn't like it. It does not clean thouroughly. It also made the floor a bit sticky. I went back to the old mop and Pinesol. I am thinking that I might want to get a steam mop though...............

I have one. It's better than using a regular mop, but I am looking into getting something else. I am sick of buying replacement pads and cleaning solution. The batteries do last a while though. I have ceramic tile in my kitchen and it will clean up drink spills and things just fine, but when it comes to anything else you really have to work hard to get it up, and sometimes that doesn't even do it and I will have to get a clorox wipe or something and do it by hand. I will probably end up getting the rubbermaid one where you can wash the cloth and re use that instead of buying new (expensive) pads and use your own (non-toxic) cleaning solution instead of buying that too.

Hi Mama-
The only thing I know about swiffers is that they are not good for pets and if you have a little one that crawls, drools, and then sticks everything in their mouth....not so healthy for them either. The dry ones might be better. I know my mum has one, but her youngest is 25, lol, so she doesn't really worry about that--plus her only grand baby prefers to run everywhere as fast as possible. I know they work pretty well, but I would check the safety warnings just to be sure before purchasing.
Hope that helps

I have to say NO! I have a Shark Steam Mop! We love it. The pads are washable. No cleaning product to worry about ruining clothes or making ppl sick. Get some green/eco friendly. The Shark Steam Mop has been great for us!

I hated mine. One time when I was using it the spray got on the bottom of my brand new expensive pants and totally discolored them. I don't know what is in that stuff, put it is powerful.

I bought a Promist at Walmart. It has a reusable cloth that can be thrown in the washer. You can also use your own cleaning solutions. The swiffer cloths will fit on it as well. The guy at Walmart recommended it to me when he saw me looking at the Swiffer jet. It's the same price as the Swiffer jet and I got a $5 rebate, but I don't have to buy extra cloths. It's work well so far for me.

I like mine. I don't have to wring out a nasty mop and when it gets dirty you just toss the pad.

You have gotten plenty of responses, but I'll add my two cents as well. I agree with many who have posted that a Swiffer is not worth the money, and it can make your pets and kids sick. We use the Hoover Floor Mate for hard wood/linoleum/tile floors. It washes then dries the floor in one step. It is like a carpet cleaner, but for hardwood floors. It cleans really really well. It is expensive, but we think it is well worth it. Good luck in your search for a mop that will work for your needs!

No. I have both the Swiffer Sweeper and the Swiffer Wet Jet. The wet jet is always needing new batteries, cleaning solution, or new pads. And it doesn't work very well.

I just use the Swiffer Sweeper. Instead of buying the dry/wet pads, I use old wash cloths or rags to mop. They tuck into the sweeper grip holes perfectly and save me from buying those disposable pads (that don't work very well.) If it's a really stubborn mopping job, I just spray 409 on the floor first.

I purchased the Swiffer Wet Jet as well so did my sister. We both loved that it really had a nice range of mop fluid for the floor, we both liked the pads. I tossed my receipt and was in love. About a 2 weeks after purchase and too many batteries it wouldn't put out the fluid for mopping. I changed batteries still I couldn't get the fluid to make the floor wet. I read the directions and tried to correct the problem with no luck, it just wouldn't work. Sadly without the receipt I couldn't send it back or take it back, I had to toss it.

My sister after having her's about 2 months had the same problem. She took her's back with the receipt and Walmart gave her a refund.

Strange we bought our mops a different places and had the same problem.

It's worth a try plus save receipt on the side of the package it offers a money back refund. This was 2 years ago so I read it before I bought it. Best of luck

Hi!

We have used both Swiffer Wet Jets and steam mops at our Gymboree sites and I prefer the steam mop. It would especially be easy on home floors (vs mats). Also, once you buy it, you don't need to continually buy the cleaner - you just use water.

I like it, but it's sooo expensive. I like the libman mop where you can wash the pad and fill your own solution in the bottle. I think it's $20. You can buy more of the pads too. I'd say get one of those. Cheaper and greener.

I also have the Rubbermaid one from Target with the red handle. I use vinegar in mine and if I want it to smell good, I'll add a few drops of essential oil. I love it cuz I can use my own cleaning solution (don't have to keep buying those expenisve bottles) and it doesn't take batteries. One more thing, if you have pets, the spray can get into their food/water, not good for them or our kids when they crawl on the floor.

No. I think it's rubbermaide (not 100% sure) that has a microfiber pad that you can wash and reuse and you cam fill the bottle with whatever kind of cleaner you like to use so much better then those pads and bottles for the swifter mop that you have to toss out and less costly in the long run.

I have one and i do use it regularly, but honestly you still need a regular mop for thourough cleaning. You do not have to buy the Swiffer solution & pads. I use an environmentally friendly cleanser that is also safe for my wood laminates. I do not recall the price of the non-swiffer replacement pads, but I know that they were quite a bit less. They do not fit as well, but they still do the job.

It's a pain! It just doesn't seem to pick up the dirt as a standard mop does.

One disclaimer though: for a quick fix in my tiniest bathroom, it's ok. For all other rooms, I hate that I can't rinse the dirt from the pad. It feels like I'm just spreading the dirt from one spot to another!

Swifter is a cheap flimsy piece of poo. I do love my Bona Floor cleaner though. I got it from a professional floor installer. It came with my floors, but they sell them out right for like $20-30 & the Bona floor cleaner is like $7.00 at bed bath or beyond & they charge the same, but it lasts me like 2-3 months. I just sweep floors then spray & mop, then throw pad in the washer. If I just need to get dust up & no sticky stuff, then i just dampen the pad & mop, then wash pad. Love, Love, Love it. Much better than a stinky old dirty nasty mop & no wringing.

I got tired of the expense as well. It works, there is no question about that but it adds up quick. I went for the steam mop instead, initially there is a cost, but after that none, you just wash the mop pads.
