Should Santa Deliver This One Package Early?

My daughters bunk beds... died. Literally fell apart. I took the top bunk off a month ago and they've been sharing the bottom bed for as long. Last night, I heard a gasp and a clunk... the bottom bed collapsed on itself.

Needless to say, it's going in the garbage today.

Santa is bringing the girls new bunk beds. I know they could just sleep on a mattress on the floor, that's not a big deal... BUT I had kind of forgotten that I had stashed all out camping gear under their beds, and that stuff has no other place to go.

In other words, their room has no floor right now. It's a mess, and it's not safe, tripping over all that stuff! They have no room to play.

I've never had Santa bring something early, but I think he might have to get these bunk beds here ASAP. Good idea? Bad idea? What would you do? How would you play this off? What would you say?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It has to come from Santa, that's their big gift this year! I LOVE that it wouldn't fit in Santa's sleigh, that might work!

ETA: I typed up a letter from MRS Clause explaining that one of the little elves that have been watching the girls to see if they're naughty or nice saw what happened to the bed, and while Santa is very, very busy getting his sleigh and reindeer ready for Christmas, the little elf said they had been SO good, that they get one present early (but they can't tell anyone else, because otherwise everyone would want early presents!) We'll see how this goes :)

If they HAVE to come from Santa, then deliver them early with a special note attached.

"Dear X and Y,
With Christmas just a couple of days away,
I realized that I just won't have enough room on my sleigh.
For this special gift and all the others, too.
So I'm sending it early, just for you!"

Edit: The hubs gets the credit!

Why on earth would Santa bring the "good gift" for Christmas? That is a gift that should come from you and yes, early is ok for this one.

I'd put a HUGE bow on it and a nice decorated card (glitter, etc) explaining that Santa had to drop it off early either because he couldn't fit it in the sleigh or, since he knows when you're naughty/nice/awake/sleeping, he also knows when your bunkbed falls apart and wouldn't want you to sleep on the floor for Christmas Eve.

Yes! We receive gifts from Santa.

But also Mrs. Clause picks and sends items.. usually clothing, bed linens, beach towels. .. The elves give the silly jokey things and the Reindeer give the Nature items. like bird feeders, flowers, etc..

Maybe you could say that the Reindeer did not think they could bring the bed along with everything else Christmas night and Mrs. Claus was worried about them not having a bed to sleep in all week. , so along with the elves they all agreed to bring it early.

How about Santa knew how badly they needed the new beds so he decided to bring them early?

The beds can always come from you. But if you want it to come from Santa, you can tell your kids that since the beds were so big, they wouldn't fit in Santa's sleigh so he had to bring them early to make room for all the other presents for all the other kids.

I have seen your update, but I still think the bunkbeds should be from you, not Santa...and yes, delivered early!

I think a note from santa that a "big package" is being delivered early because there is no room in the sleigh is totally ok. A bunk bed is big they won't question that if you say the bed wouldn't fit in the bag. or you just get it and give it to them. was it already planned as a christmas gift?

I would do it early!! Do you have someone that would be kind enough to set them up for you and your hubby, while you are away? That way when you come home, there could be a note from santa saying he didn't have enough room on his sleigh to bring them on Christmas night. We have done this before and it is a hit. Good luck and Merry Christmas!!

Ummm, I don't think they'll be scarred for life for getting a USEFUL/NEEDED present early.

That's why they are called "early Christmas presents."

GO FO IT!

I just read your ETA. Cute idea. I hope your girls enjoy their new bed. And I hope husband enjoys putting it together! Better give them the letter at breakfast time so y'all have all day to put it together.

Good idea given the circumstances. I'd just tell them Santa stashed it here and we have to use it now.

No, Santa only comes once a year. Plus, parents should buy furniture.

they dont "have" to come from Santa. You bought them so you should be the one giving them. I would just tell them that it is their big Christmas gift and since they NEED them now then they are getting them now.

It's only one more week. Can you stack the mattresses on top of one another for a little longer? Have them put the unused stuff onto the mattresses during the day. Think of how much they will love seeing the new bunk beds on Christmas morning, it will help them to continue to believe in Santa's magic that he saw their beds fall apart and they needed new ones.
