Hi! I'm wondering if the Nashville City Tour and/or the General Jackson Dinner Cruise are worth the money?? We're visiting in August for the first time and want to really get a good feel of Nashville. I'm also wondering what restaurants you can recommend in Nashville? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have not done the General Jackson but did a dinner cruise on the other boat & it was pretty good food. Ours was a "tail-gate" cruise so we just went to the Titans football game & back so I can't comment on how much of the city you see. I highly recommend eating at Monell's in the Germantown area! It is southern, family style. They have a website you can check out! Living 30 minutes from Nashville, I often forget all it has to offer since I don't take advantage of it. It really is a great city... Enjoy your trip!

Go downtown to The Gulch which is a new area of Nashville. The Watermark restaurant is great! Flemings steak is great, Mario's Italian is amazing, Morton's steak house is EXCELLENT! These are all pricey so if you just want good food but medium prices, any restaurants downtown on 2nd Ave are really good. Definitely hit downtown 2nd Ave and Broadway.
We have Zanies comedy club on 8th Ave that is fun if there is a good comedian. General Jackson would be fun but I don't know how much it is and haven't done it. I have heard it is nice. Find out what the Tour will show you to see if it is worth it. If you see stars houses or historic places, etc The Titans have a first game in August which is Great! Sounds baseball probably have a game which might be fun. Maybe a concert will be in town? Very fun, you will like it here. Enjoy!

This doesn't answer your question, but the Nashville Zoo is great! Very clean, very nice, not huge.

It's too bad the Gaylord Opryland hotel is under renovation due to flooding. The hotel is gorgeous.... That's a definite must see but is not open 'til November.

I am from Nashville and have never done either. I would recommend the General Jackson Dinner Cruise over the other. If you aren't traveling with kids, go into Tootsie's Orchid Lounge and enjoy the live entertainment that is downtown at night in the Broadway (2-4th Ave). A show at the Ryman is a must. It doesn't matter who is playing, the exprience is great!! The Parthenon is great with or without kids. If you have kids, the Adventure Science Museum has just bee redone. The Nashville Public Library downtown has a lot of history. For fun, the farmer's market is neat.
