WE are wanting to plan a trip Labor Day week and are considering Myrtle Beach. Does anyone have any input on a road trip from Missour to Myrtle Beach and going that time of year?

Thanks!

I can't speak on MO to SC but I can tell you that we recently visited Myrtle Beach and loved it. There is a lot to do...helicopter rides, water parks, beaches, aquarium, and lots more...too much to name. There were some things we didn't do but would have liked to if we had more time and money. Depends on what you like but I will tell you our favorites: Preservation Station at Barefoot Landing (would have liked to have done their tour but couldn't afford that but definately got the pictures done), Ripken Experience, and Helicopter Rides.

I was nice just walking around at Broadway (at South Myrtle Beach) and Barefoot Landing (North MB).

Right now Hotel Blue is running some good deals on rates! We have stayed there twice and really like it. Not sure the age of your kids, but it is close to the amusement park and arcade. Their sister hotel two buildings over has a kiddie pool, they have a bowling alley.
It will still be NICE weather down there too. you may pay a bit more for the holiday night, but otherwise you should be able to get some great rates! PM me if you want anymore info. We LOVE myrtle beach!!!!!

We drove from the Kansas City area to North Myrtle Beach. We went through the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and it was BEAUTIFUL. Our kids actually put down their electronics to look out the window!

If you can stand it, drive from KC to Nashville and spend the night there. (Awesome city. If you have the energy, stay downtown and get out for some ice cream and a look around.)

We stayed in a condo at the Sea Watch Resort. It was right on the beach and had two sets of pools (one was a party pool, the other one was more of a quiet pool), a lazy river, a restaurant on site and tons of activities for kids. If you are interested, I recommend VRBO.

Sea Watch is a good location- there are restaurants and grocery stores close by. We would eat breakfast and lunch at the condo and then go out to eat dinner.

We did take an evening to go to the Boardwalk in Myrtle Beach. It was fun, but like the other posts mentioned, Barefoot Landing is really fun, too.

Have a great time!

We went a few years back at the beginning of Sept. We found a lot of things to do, but there were also some things, like the outdoor amuzement parks in the parking lots that were already closed.

One of our most favorite stops in the Aligator Adventure. It is located at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle, just off the road. It doesn't look like much, until you get inside. There are hundreds of alligators! My son loved it!

We went last summer and it was so much fun! CRAZY expensive though. We were there for dance so I'm sure we didn't get to do a lot, but we did Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach, spent time on the beach, Pirate's Adventure, and a few other things...we had fun, but spent a lot more than planned.

We just got back from Myrtle Beach and we drive also. We normally go through Tennessee and it is beautiful. It's a 16 hour drive from Chicago so not too bad and we also stop the 1st night at a hotel.
We have stayed at The Anderson- I didn't like the pool area and it was a little more upscale than what I wanted. There is a Hampton Inn on the beach which is really nice and they have 2 bedroom suites. We like to stay in more of a Condo/Hotel. The Island Vista is really nice with indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. They also have a nice lawn area for the kids to play in. In the summer the Island Vista also has Hula dancers and a guy that does a fire breathing act and it is amazing. They also invite you to hula with them which is a lot of fun for the kids. They have an awesome kids club and live music poolside as well. The Island vista has a restaurant and pool bar. We had a 2 bedroom/2bath condo and it was great. We recently stayed at the Mar Vista Grande and it was a 3 bed/3bath condo but no restaurant which was ok as we had a full kitchen and I just shopped for a few items.
Definitely do the Alligator Adventure at Barefoot Landing. We go every time and it is a lot of fun- plus your 2nd day is free :)
Downtown Myrtle has a boardwalk with a lot of fun things to do. We did the Skywheel and a trampoline/bungy thing. Not sure what it's called. The weather should be great and when we went mid-July the ocean was very warm and comfortable.
Have lots of fun and relax

The "season" has pretty much extended thru mid-September, so plenty will be open. We like North Myrtle better--less congested. Barefoot Landing area is nice in NMB.
