I went through this with my son until he was 9 months old. I was exhausted from getting up twice during the night and just couldn't take it anymore. So, I took advice from my mom and several other moms that I knew. They told me that when he wakes up let him cry for 20 minutes or so. If he is still crying go into his room and try to calm him down by patting his back. If he still continues to try because he "thinks" he is hungry, only offer him water to drink, not milk. I did this and after about four days, he didn't wake up anymore because he knew he wasn't going to get what he wanted. He is now 14 months old and the only time he wakes up during the night is if he isn't feeling well. It is hard at first, but when he finally does sleep through the night it will be well worth it. I am sure you will get lots of other good advice, but this is what worked for me! Good luck.
