Sleeping in a Carseat

Reading these questions about carseats reminded me of a question I wanted to ask of you mamas...
We recently made the switch to a convertible, and it sits more upright than the infant carrier, so when my son falls asleep in it his head flops forward. Is there a way to prevent this, because it just looks uncomfortable and I can't imagine it's very safe. The seat does have one of those detachable head pillows, but it's not helpful at all. The seat is installed properly, it's level and it's set to the right recline position, which is as far as it can recline. We're not in the car very often, but especially when I'm alone driving with him I can't keep an eye on whether his head is flopped or not. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

If you find something, let me know. My son is 4 and his head still flops! I think it is just what happens when they are in a convertible. The only thing that makes me feel better is knowing that they have head control when you place them in the convertible, so if they were that uncomfortable, they would just lift their heads up.

I have a big teddy-bear I give my 11 month DD, and she will hug it to her and use it as a pillow when we are driving. :) I just made sure that it doesn't have any hard parts (glass eyes, buttons, etc.) so that if we DO get in a wreck, nothing hard will hit her.

Flopping is normal and will happen. Your head flopped when you fell asleep in the car, and your just fine. I know it looks uncomfortable, but it's just one of those things of life. Those pillows never really do anything, and using one that the manufacture didn't design with the car seat isn't smart.

I just found these on ebay and I love them. I bought the medium size for my 5 and 6 yr olds and they use them with their high-back booster. I like that the part of the pillow that goes behind the neck is very narrow so that it doesn't push the neck forward. Cute patterns.

This happened with one of the less expensive convertibles I tried, which I immediately got rid of and bought a Britax. It was money well spent!

buy a Maxy Cosi Priori convertible car seat and your child's head will not flop forward!!! They cost about 200$. After I got few other ones, this solved all the problems.
