Snow Fun in Farmington Hills Area (Or Within 20 Miles)

Hi all! I'm interested in getting some of my son's friends (a group of about 10, ages 5 - 11) together for some wintertime outdoor fun. Can you suggest a place (or park) where the kids can get out and just have some plain-old clean fun in the snow? Perhaps with some small hills for sledding and maybe that offers an indoor area where they come in for hot cocoa, etc... I live in Farmington Hills, would prefer something relatively close, but willing to travel up to about 20 miles.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!!!!!

What can I do next?

There are GREAT free sledding areas on the hills of Hines Park in Northville. Most people like the ones around Cass Benton, which is between 7 Mile and 6 Mile (enter the park from 7 Mile, west of Northville Road) and Waterford Bend, which is at the northwest corner of 6 Mile and Northville Road.

Kensington is only about 15 min from you and it's great! It has 5 sledding hills, from beginner to more advanced. Lately it's been more crowded than usual but that makes it more fun. There are no snowboards allowed. We go there nearly every weekend. There is a shelter and picnic tables, but it's not enclosed. But we actually get hot from sledding and on a sunny day, it's so great to get some sun. (Even if it's only on your cheeks.) Have fun!

Kensington Metropark has everything you need. Instead of paying the daily entrance fee (per vehicle not per person) pay $25 and then you can go there, or any other metropark as much as you want for the rest of the year. Check out the metroparks online, they all have different activities throughout winter some are free (with your admission) others have a smal (less than $10)fee.

Have fun

Hi,
There is a nice sledding hill at Shiawassee and Farmington Road north. There isn't a building in which to warm up, but you could always bring a thermos of hot chocolate and have it in the car while warming up.
