Hi mommies! We want to take our two ds to play in the snow in dec. They are one and four. We are in Dallas and would like to drive somewhere. Anybody have any good ideas on where the best place to go is? A vacation rental would be ideal so if you have a y ideas there, that would be great too!

What can I do next?

look up Grapevine- they have a resort/hotel there where they have snow and ice- I don't remember what it is called, but I know it's in Grapevine. Otherwise you will have to go out of state and it's a long drive to anywhere with snow! If you wanted to fly- I would suggest Utah and staying in SLC- that way you can play in the snow and see the lights at temple square(I think they are up around Thanksgiving through the first of the year) and they are amazing! I used to live in Utah and that was a yearly tradition. Park City Utah is also a great place for snow- it's a ski town so there is lots of it(not sure how far away from SLC) but they have some nice vacation rentals there. My parents did that for us for a Christmas and it was a lot of fun. Dry snow is a lot easier to sled/ski in(desert places) wet snow (more east coast) makes great snowballs, but soaks you through in about a minuet and you can't really sled in it.
Have fun!

Gaylord Texan is one idea. The other is watch for Six Flags to do Holiday in the Park. I think they have a snow machine and a sledding hill for the kids.

Hmmmm, unfortunately, probably the closest places that could have snow in December are Northern New Mexico and/or Southern Colorado. Both of those are quite the drive, though, AND there is a good chance there may not be much snow unless you head to a ski basin.
I grew up in Santa Fe, NM and we had some Decembers that had no snow and sometimes we were buried in it.

Check out the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine (out close to DFW). They have holiday activites with ice and I think snow as well.

It is fun for the family and the hotel is beautiful.

I don't know about out of town.....we don't like the cold so we steer away from it. One day of cold is all we need.
