Soaking Through Diaper at Night

To make changing the sheets easier, try this:
Put on the fitted sheet.
Put a disposable, waterproof "underpad" on the section he's most likely to leak around.
Fold a top sheet in half and put over the underpad, tucking in the ends.
Finish making bed w/ regular top sheet, blanket, etc.
When a leak happens in the middle of the night, you just have to remove the folded sheet and underpad and (hopefully) it will be dry underneath.
Sometimes I even uses 2 layers of underpad and sheet...just in case there's more than one accident.
You'll still have to do laundry, but at least you don't have to make the bed in the middle of the night.

I agree w/ other posters who suggest larger and overnight diapers to prevent the leaks.

I have always used Luvs and buy a bigger size for nighttime and have never had a problem with leaking.

I swear by the Huggies overnights and always buy them one size bigger. They rarely leak for us and we have super pee-ers too.
Also I was told by another mom to always layers: sheet, waterproof mattress pad, sheet, waterproof mattress pad.. on your childs bed. That way you just strip the top two layers and tada you can go back to bed! Loved the idea!!

My daughter was a big pee monster in the middle of the night. I always used cloth diapers but at night I'd use a flannel diaper that had a snap in liner and then I'd add 2 more hemp liners and that was fine. I'd also put a cover on the diaper and that did the trick.
Cloth is much better for him AND for the environment AND for your pocketbook

I can't stand changing sheets. Still have mine in pull ups at night for that reason. I have always used Huggies Overnights, and if approaching the next size I go up. My oldest used to sleep so soundly I would change him before I went to bed so he wouldn't leak. He was a tough one to night train.

Find someone who can integrate two primary reflexes in his body called Spinal Galant and Spinal Pereze. They are probably unintegrated and causing this situation. If he is soaking that much he will probably not train at night for many years. Look into it.

we used Huggies overnights and put one on right before bed. it may also help to cut back on the liquids before bed.

Have you tried either going up a size or nighttime diapers? Huggies are called overnites not sure what Pampers are but I know they have some and Fisher Price has a PM version that you can get at Toys RUs.

I would suggest the Huggies Nighttime diapers too, although if you're already using a pad and a diaper, I'm not sure if these will be effective for you? They are a bit more expensive but they are worth it! I would go up a size to begin with as others mentioned to give you the best chance! Good luck! Oh and you can use regular huggies coupons for these (they come in a purple box) and sometimes they even have special nighttime diaper coupons.

Pull ups? We buy ours at Costco. We leak too sometimes but not everynight. They do have the nighttime diapers but those are even more expensive.

We limit drinks as well and they go to the bathroom before bed - doesn't make any difference - they are super deep sleepers.

I would use a bigger size diaper and cover it with a cloth diaper cover like Bummis whisper wraps. The covers are waterproof and will catch most leaks (unless it's super, super huge). Or as another poster recommended, switch to cloth altogether. It's easy to add doublers and extra padding to those.

I used disposible diapers with my 1st child and BumGenius Cloth Diapers with my other 3. We've only had 1 night time leak with BG's and that's because my husband forgot to put the insert inside the diaper! SO worth the up front cost! My son is 7 months old and we've spend less than $200 on diapers since his birth!

Have you tried Huggies Overnights? Another thing you may want to consider is cloth diapers. You have a lot more flexibility in absorbency with cloth. If you decide to look into cloth (even just for nighttime) private message me and I will give you more info on great options for super soakers!

Take him potty before bed! He's 2yrs old and can easily pee in the toilet before bed. And change to cloth diapers, that way you can choose how much absorbancy to put in.

Layering diapers isn't really going to help much. The lining is designed to keep the urine from leaking out. Plus, all that bulk might be adding to your problem. Chances are, the diapers aren't fitting properly around the legs, which leads to leaks.
It's definitely time to move up to the next size diaper. That normally cured my leaking issues (before I switched to cloth). Make sure that you're getting them tight enough around the legs and waist. Try an overnight diaper too.

Because of a similar problem, I started limiting my son's drinks so that once he is done his dinner, that's it! No more unless he's really thirsty. If he does have more, I have been putting him in a Huggies overnight diaper with a pull up over top of it. That has definitely helped! Good luck!
