Get him in with, or call the pediatrician. This is more than a butt rash, and could be contagious or something you need to specifically treat.

May be prickly heat. My son got that on the back of his neck on a airplane one time. I think it was b/c he was sweaty and air wasn't getting back there.

I don't want to scare you, but I had a friend whose son had similar symptoms and it turned out to be parasites living in colon. You can't see them during the day...they only come out at night while he is sleeping. She said she had to sneak in (in order not to wake him) and look with a flashlight to see them. It, of course, horrified her, but then she was able to apply proper treatment to get rid of them.
It's a stretch, but worth a peek!

My son gets these, and his are from allergies. He gets them either on his arm, back or back of his legs. Normally he won't get them till around April/May but this year he broke out a few weeks ago.

I give him Zrytec and it clears him up pretty fast.
Also I found the Aveeno brand of anti-itch to work the best. Along with soap with no perfumes or dyes, as this can make it worse.

It either sounds like chicken pox, hives, or dry skin. I would ask your childs physician about it.

Does he have any other symptoms, fever, sore throat, headache? If the bumps are not blisters, it's possible that it could be a yeast infection. Try 2% miconazole cream daily to the entire affected area. Keep applying 3 days after the rash is gone. In the mean time, wash, dry thoroughly, and apply the cream. If you don't see signs of improvement, check with the pediatrician after 3 days.

My son, now almost 6, has similar bumps to what you are speaking of. I took him to the doctor at age 2 and he went through a battery of tests. We finally ended up at a pediatric dermatologist because there was nothing found. She told us that it is a form of eczema. We have to be so careful now. No trying on clothes...they must be washed first or tried on over other clothes. We have to wash EVERYTHING (hand towels, bath towels, the kid's sheets, our sheets, etc.) in Dreft. It really is a constant monitoring situation. We have steroid cream that helps them go away when they come but it is the strongest cream available for his age so I really hope that it keeps working. By the way, my daughter, now 2 1/2, started getting them about 2 months ago. I asked the doctor and we just share the cream.

We had the same problem with my son. Our day care provider told us about Aquaphor. It is a bit pricey ($8.99 for the tube), but it really cleared things up in a few days. Yes, call the dr to make sure he doesn't need to be seen, but try Aquaphor to treat and prevent.

I'd take him to a doctor have it checked out. Since it's spreading it would have me concerned. At the very least call the doctor and describe it in detail.

depends on why the rash; my oldest had something that sounds similar, our pediatrician also recommended Lotrimin. I found that a feminine yeast product works just as well. And, if you cover it each time with Desitin (the old fashion kind, not the new creamy kind), that really holds the medicine to the skin without letting urine get to the sores. Good luck!

My son got these when he was littler I noticed when he was sweaty or wet for to long it's irration is what it sound's like to me.I took my son in to see his DR. and she also agreed it was irration and to put cream or diaper pitnment but at times it was so bad,she advised me I can also use vagisil.It cleared up in no time.You may want to give him a bath this morning and let him air dry for a while then put cream on the affected area.If it doesn't clear up i the next few day's or so or even get's work's take him in to see his DR.

When my 4-year-old son had something similar it turned out to be jock itch, and on our doctor's advice we used the OTC antifungal ointment Lotrimin. Cleared it right up.

Hi J.. I would suggest using the hyrdocortizone cream but if it seems to start spreading, he starts coughing, and running a fever call your doctor. It could just be a rash on his bottom but it also could be chicken pox (children can still get them even if they had a shot) or impetigo. Impetigo and chicken pox is contagious and dr. office's are real particular on it so just make sure you tell them when you get in FIRST.

My son recently had the same problem - his ended up being impetigo (strep). He took an antibotic and got rid of them right away.

My son had those once and our ped thought it might be a yeast infection. They suggested Lotrimin. I ended up not using it. They eventually went away.

First of all, is it a yeast infection? This would require an antifungal cream.
Second, has he had a fever? sometimes strep presents itself this way.

It could be a yeast infection. Hydrocortizone cream won't work for yeast infections. You might to ask your doctor if over the counter creams is ok to use on your son. Good luck.

I would call the Dr. It could be pinworms. It would be much wourse at night. At least if he is seen you can rest easier.
