St. Patty's Day - Washington,DC

We got a reminder in the backpacks about wearing green tomorrow! They will be wearing green and doing St. Patty's Day "stuff" all day!

Put a drop of green food coloring in the toilet(s) on Sat am before they get up.

Have a few chocolate coins on the floor by the toilet (if you do not have a dog---dogs cannot have choc). Or a trail of green feet to the toilet w/ a note from the leprechaun. Maybe have a craft or green t-shirts ... left by the leprchaun.

This will make the day fun if the holiday is not celebrated in school! Have fun !

I don't know if my boys are going to school tomorrow in green or not. Good question!! I'll have to ask them what they want to do!!!

I don't think you need to be Irish to celebrate St. Patty's day!!! It's fun!! I'll be making Corned Beef for dinner Saturday night. Bob LOVES that one!!!

A few years I was at business conference on St. Patty's day - it was funny to see a bunch of professionals wearing green of some sort - even though the conference had NOTHING to do with St. Patty's day!!! Green Ties, Green shirts, blouses, etc.

We are on Spring Break, but if they were in school, we would probably still go in green, just because it's fun.

I am subbing tomorrow...and I will be wearing green. I also am taking in irish soda bread for some of the teachers...and scones.

I actually did corned beef and cabbage...colcannon...etc LAST weekend as 2 of my college kiddos were home for spring break.

Same menu...again...for saturday! lol

My children are grown, but I'll bet most of the grandchildren will be in some measure of green tomorrow!

My husband is already looking at corned beef and cabbage for the 17th, and I'm celebrating the day by running/walking a 5K.

As an avid St. Paddy's Day celebrate(or)...if we were in school they would wear green tomorrow (spring break).

But it's special day for me so I celebrate way different than others. I've already worn my Ireland shirt, my Irish-Aholic shirt and Saturday is my "everybody loves and Irish girl shirt".

we are at work! :) i will put him in green, i don't know if they will do much (preschool) since they also have other fun activities going on due to spring break...

If my guys were in school, we'd probably dress them in green just because. No pinching since it's not St Patrick's day...but there's no harm in a little green, lol. I know that when it fell on a weekend when I was growing up, we would wear green the last day we saw each other just for a little nod to a holiday. But then, some people don't celebrate holidays the way we do. We're ALWAYS looking for a reason to celebrate. ;)

I know this is ridiculous and a stupid, small thing, but... It's St. PaDDy, not PaTTy. Patty is a woman's name, Paddy is short for Patrick. Sorry, but it bugs me.

ROFL... We homeschool... and this year kiddo is:

- Dying his hair green
- Green Pants
- Green Shirt
- Green Converse
- Face Paint (just a shamrock)
- Gold "pixie dust" over everything

Breakfast = Green Eggs & Ham & Green Apple Juice (for the green tongue)

It's an excuse to get dressed up. His own version of the LBD, mascara, and sky high heels. So I've gotta give it to him. It's good for morale. :D

I WISH he'd dye his hair red. The green makes him look weird for a solid couple of weeks. It "washes out" slower than it take his hair to grow.

My youngest daughter was born on St. Patrick's Day so I always make a point to buy her a special shirt to wear on that day (or the day before/after if it falls on the weekend). We never really "celebrated" St. Patrick's Day before she came along, especially since it's also my husband's birthday.
So in answer to your question, yes I'll still put her in green! But just her. My older two really don't care.

Everyone wears green on St Patrick's Day in our house. It's my birthday too so everyone definitely expects me to wear green. It's kinda a tradition.

My poor GD has been sick all week so she probably won't be going to school tomorrow which is also her 10th birthday!

Meh....we're not Irish.....maybe a wee bit on hubby's side.
My son might wear green shirt tomorrow, if he wants to.
St. Patrick's Day is not a big deal in our house, I guess....

My daughter is 4 and goes to preschool Mon thru Thurs - so she went all decked-out for St. Patty's Day today! Then Saturday is going to be at my cousins' house, with their all-day shin-dig, including breakfast starting at 9 am. DD is all excited she gets to wear her outfit twice!

I am planning on putting some green food coloring in the toilet, and make "footprints" with my hands on the seat with green paint, to make it look like a leprechaun has peed in there. I might do some green food coloring in the milk too. :)

My hubby is Irish...last name McCormick before he was adopted by his step dad. His mom and uncle are twins...Patricia and Patrick...LOL!!! Anyhoo, we are on spring break this week so our kids are NEVER at school for St Patty's day. =( And tomorrow all our kids will be at their other parents house for the weekend. My step daughter has a green plastic necklace she's taking to her mom's to wear for fun. I don't think my kids care much and its likely their dad won't do anything fun with them either. As far as me and hubs goes, for some reason, since we've been together, we have always eaten out at MEXICAN food on St Pattys. So funny! So long story short, we don't have any plans with the kids and we are taking a road trip early for my bday so not sure where exactly we will end up but I know it will be fun...and we both have holiday green theme shirts we will be wearing and our crazy hats. =)

I'm guessing....no green tomorrow....it is NOT St. Pattys Day!
