Yep - please stop the milk - it can be very tough on the gut and can be a huge contributor to increased GI problems, even without a flu. Also, remember the BRAT diet for these sorts of things: Bananas, rice, apples, and toast. You might try giving him some cinnamon raisin toast - my kids love it. Also, cream of rice cereal might work. The pedialyte is a good idea. Also, homemade chicken soup is great, although even canned campbell's chicken noodle is good.

Also, there are some good natural nasal sprays. This is my favorite:

And, finally, when my kids show any signs of these bugs, I give them Sambucol - it's an elderberry extract developed in Israel that research shows is a potent anti-viral.

Also, as long as you can keep fluids in him, it's not the worst thing in the world for him to not be eating much - he's instinctively letting his GI system rest. And, finally, please consider giving him probiotics to replenish the healthy gut bacteria. Remember 70+% of our immune function is our guts.

No milk, for sure. My husband loves Pepperidge Farms brand Cinnamon Raisin Swirl toast and a glass of OJ! Plenty of fluids is a must.

Adaptogens are a natural way to help boost the immune system. To learn more and watch "The Story of Adaptogens Documentary" 10 minute video, go to VitalHealth.TunguskaMist.com

The Immune Tunguska Mist formula contains the following adaptogens to support a healthy immune system: Amla, Astragalus, Holy Basil, Eleuthero, Licorice, Reishi, Rhodiola, and Schizandra. We've ordered 1-8 products at a time from this website and usually receive it in 2-3 days.

I also highly recommend an incredible book titled Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina, and Stress Relief by Winston and Maimes. From the book "There is a category of herbs called adaptogens that help the human body adapt to stress, support normal metabolic processes, and restore balance. They increase the body's resistance to physical, biological, emotional, and environmental stressors and promote normal physiologic function".

I hope your son starts feeling better soon:) (And your other family members!) God Bless!!!

I would stop giving him milk! its the hardest thing to digest. when my son gets a tummy bug, my dr says to stop giving milk and not start again until at least 24 hours after the last time he throws up. i would just do the pedialite until his tummy is better. have you tried applesauce? and toast is good too.

Milk is a no-no when sick because it causes the body to produce more mucous that, when swallowed, causes sore throats, vomiting and more coughing, nose blowing, etc.

There is definitely something powerful going around because even my family caught it and we have not been sick in 3 years! Ever since we discovered Juice Plus+, our immune systems are so strong, we normally avoid everything that everyone else is struggling with each year. This time, it got us but my son was only sick for two days so he recovered quickly.

Check out my Mamasource profile or email me for more info on Juice Plus+ gummie treats for kids and capsules for adults. I love it so much I decided to market it so I could make it available to other moms like me.

Blessings,

When my son had it a few weeks back, the dr said there's no reason to take out regular foods (including dairy and milk). The only things advised not to give him were vegetables that would cause diarrhea to worsen.
